Naw. I was watching a documentary about Swans' 'The Seer' on Pitchfork when I was feeling sick yesterday and this was underneath. You're off the hook but you might not want to kiss me just yet ;)

OMG ME TOO

It was pretty amazing (assuming you're talking about the swans video and not wanting to kiss me but I'm better now..) I kind of stopped listening to them after Soundtracks for the Blind and even then I was a little too young to really grasp it. I was into Ministry, KMFDM, NIN, etc. and Swans was just.. I dunno. I saw them a loooong time ago too at this all ages venue and they just seemed loud. But I was 15. When The Seer came out I was about twice the age I was when STFTB was bought, listened to and sold to a used record store by myself a day later (I also did the same thing with Slanted and Enchanted on cassette, lord forgive me). It blew my mind in all sorts of musical directions, more than any other album. I'm waiting to hear To Be Kind until the time is right but I can't wait.

Both. And you should listen, pronto.

Pretty much the latter: He's part of the Mad Decent (Major Lazer/Diplo) label and is also in a hip hop collective with Andy Milonakis called 3 Loko. So yeah it's a persona based on the wannabe Houston kids raised by DJ Screw and the bunch, kind of like Ali G was a character of Sasha Baron Coen's South London thing or Spinal Tap or Deathklok, eventually becoming a reality. Thing is, he's good at pulling this off. Like really good.

Thanks for the background, infinite zest. After a few of the answers, I got a fakey vibe, but wasn't totally sure. The giveaway for me was that his teeth were in much better condition than people I've known who actually talk kind of like this.

No problemo. I mean, it's not a total joke. He's won many freestyle competitions and besides Major Lazer (also a white dude from London behind a black Mr. T/GI Joe cartoon persona) probably my favorite thing off of Mad Decent. I didn't make the association with that Vine "I'm gonna blow up" until someone else mentioned it was Riff Raff the Rapper. 3 Loko's pretty much novelty but his solo stuff is super legit.

But here's a fitting review from a show last night (I swear I didn't post this knowing he was playing and I really don't visit pitchfork much (is saying I don't read pitchfork for the music like saying I don't read playboy for the boobs these days!?!)
