Oh, nostalgia. I used to have this for my Apple IIc with the monochrome monitor. I don't remember being very good at it.

Muse released a couple of really fun games for the c64. I think I had return to castle wolfenstein, as I remember there being some bullshit with bombing doors or something? Anyway, I distinctly remember little me having my dad explain what scweinhund meant thanks to this game.

This, Gateway to Apshai, and Montezuma's Revenge are serious nostalgia triggers.

Apshai! good lord.

Scrimmjob - 2014-05-28

I had a broken copy of montezuma's revenge that would lock up after the first level. It was years until I got to see how hard that fucking game gets.

I seem to recall making past maybe one or two guards before dying when I played this on the neighbor's Apple. Still kept trying to play it. I think it was the wonky aim/fire mechanics that just never set in as a 6-year-old.

man, Montezuma's Revenge was the shit

um, no pun intended

chumbucket - 2014-05-28

Hell yes, played this on the Atari 800. Loved the "German voice effects".

I remember the graphics as being better.

Me too. I could swear that there was a 2D side scrolling Wolfenstein that came out around the Commander Keen days... Fun fact (which y'all probably already knew) Commander Keen was BJ Blackowitz's grandson. Maybe I'm just getting all my 90s PC gaming memories screwed up (Wolf3D and Doom both had secret rooms where with Commander Keens on a noose) but I'm pretty sure there was a full-on 2D one.

I loved the 2d duke nukem on DOS.

infinite zest - 2014-05-28

Oh yeah. It was Duke Nukem. Mystery solved.
