I don't see the difference between this and old Manson. And no, while it is bad, it is not GnR bad. "GnR level bad" is not a phrase that should be used lightly.

Anaxagoras - 2014-06-05

You pretty much nailed it. This is old Manson. Sloppily delivered vocals, raw sound, lots of makeup & silly showmanship. I sorta liked some of his stuff back in the day, and this is exactly what it was.

But man.. speaking as somebody who really liked the original, that cover of Personal Jesus was painful.

Riskbreaker - 2014-06-05

Pretty much, this guy has been awful since day one.

Old_Zircon - 2014-06-06

The difference is that at first he was kind of in on the joke.

mon666ster - 2014-06-06

I saw Manson twice in 94 and twice in 96. I also collected concert bootlegs around that time. He never sounded this bad.

One of the musicians I liked as a teenager that I find unlistenable now. If ever there was a guy that missed his window for re-invention, it is Marilyn.

misterbuns - 2014-06-05

Drugs work for you until they don't.

EvilHomer - 2014-06-05

I never really liked Manson as a teenager. I was totally his demographic, but I refused to listen to him. He introduced me to being a hipster instead.

memedumpster - 2014-06-05

I can still listen to Portrait of an American Family, but very very little else.

infinite zest - 2014-06-05

for the first 2 minutes or so I was like "hey, this kind of sounds like Michael Gira meets Bowie.. maybe this isn't as bad as I thought it'd be.."

I stopped watching at 2:15. My introduction to Marilyn Manson was from a soundtrack to a movie called SFW that I found in a 99 cent bin. I picked it up because Gwar was on there, as well as Suicidal Tendencies and Babes in Toyland (oh and some little band called Radiohead) I think I was like 13 or 14, but the Marilyn Manson song was awesome!

(still never seen that movie)

infinite zest - 2014-06-05

misterbuns - 2014-06-05

How DARE he defame Goblin like that.

dockilljoy - 2014-06-05

Just a reminder that Marilyn Manson has been inside Dita Von Teese, Evan Rachel Wood, and Stoya

Chancho - 2014-06-05

3 women I'm not attracted to...hooray for him?

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2014-06-05

Five stars for Rose McGowan.

I bought MECHANICAL ANIMALS on cassette around 1999,after seeing Manson performing DOPE SHOW on the MTV movie awards brought back the thrill of seeing Alice Cooper in 1975, but Alice was a lot more fun than this, I guess. I'm probably just too old to get it, but it all seems pessimistic or nihlistic or something.

Anyway, I always enjoy Manson, but in small doses. The only band that could get me to drag my 50 plus ass out to a show these days is The Hives. if they're still together. I just don't keep up with this shit any more.

Jet Bin Fever - 2014-06-05

HOW FUCKING DARE HE USE GOBLIN TO START THE SHOW. HOW FUCKING DARE HE.

subduralhematoma - 2014-06-06

He's so old, tired, and fat now. Everything about this, from his performance to his drawn-on jawline, was terrible and embarrassing.....5 enthusiastic stars and I hope he goes on tour again soon!
