Can't argue with that logic.

Not sure if it aired yet, but The Simpsons is doing a "meets the griffins" or maybe it's the other way around. A reminder that the Simpsons could pull off shameless cross-promotions at one time and still end up with one of my top ten episodes..

There was a very brief cameo from the cast of King of the Hill in one of the later episodes. It was weird seeing them yellow.

Yeah, I herd about that one from some of the horrible autistic nerd rant channels I subscribe to. I won't lie, I've always wanted to see Marge and Lois together, but it's probably going to be the worst thing either show has ever done.

I'm actually generally curious. I don't really hate Family Guy; in a lot of ways it's found ways to stay fresh in its soon-to-be 13 seasons, something that The Simpsons couldn't do (for me anyway) after the 9th. A lot of that is self-awareness in the "this reminds me of ___" turning into something else completely.. there was one where Stewie makes a really obscure reference and it flashes to him in a completely blank background telling the audience that he doesn't get it either, that there was supposed to be a joke here.. something like that. The rest is raising the shock bar; when the Simpsons attempts to do it, it never works. So while it's not a show I'd go out of my way to watch or support, I do get at least a chuckle out of it if it's on, about as much as a FAIL compilation or a cat falling into a bathtub.

I'm interested to see if the episode runs with more of a Simpsons-style humor or the darker, more shocking style of Family Guy (not that I've ever been "shocked" by Family Guy, but 9/11 jokes and such are things that The Simpsons wouldn't touch.) So I guess I'll watch it, which will be the first Simpsons episode I've seen since 2000!

I'm indifferent towards Family Guy. I loved it when I was younger; back in highschool, when it was fresh and new and the humor was targeted directly at my demographic. Me and my buddies used to pirate episodes off Napster and watch them in between classes. I got bored with it after awhile, though; it was never as good as the Simpsons, and the joke structure got old. But the quality didn't fluctuate as much over time. It definitely did get worse, probably around the time that American Dad came out (that show's awful; I force myself to watch a bunch of episodes, and to date I've only laughed once, at a furry party sequence), but the gap between a bad Family Guy episode and a good Family Guy episode is small compared to the gaps found in the Simpsons. Family Guy ranges from background noise to background noise I can easily tune out; Simpsons ranges from excellent and engaging television, to oh my God I hope nobody sees me watching this I feel so embarrassed and even a little defiled.

The last couple Simpsons seasons actually weren't too bad. They weren't brilliant, but I don't regret going back and trying to watch them, whihc is more than I can say for any other season since 12 or so. The absolute worst Simspons bits tend to be when they bite off Family Guy, trying to be super edgy and cruel. I can't cite any specific examples off-hand, but the Dark Age writers definitely seemed to want to cash in on the then-current success of shows like Family Guy and South Park (which, in my opinion, is still going fairly strong, probably on account of having the same core creative writers for it's entire duration)

What this means is that they'll probably try and make the special like a Family Guy episode with Simpsons characters throw in, and it won't work. But everyone's going to watch it, and the advertisers will love buying spots, so I guess in that sense it will be a success.
