It's RT, must be fake.

dairyqueenlatifah - 2014-07-27

Fake? No.

Lacking proper context? Yes.

SolRo - 2014-07-27

context;

Israel says it uses precision military strikes only targeting hamas fighters attacking them.

the IDF has carried out assassinations of Hamas military and non-military political leaders (including former members) using airstrikes, in one instance of many, killing a family of 18 to get one Hamas member that was reportedly visiting someone in the same house.

http://www.digitaljournal.com/news/world/18-members-of-gaza-fa mily-killed-in-israeli-strike/article/389489

The IDF also shouts "THAT BUILDING IS FULL OF HAMAS FIGHTERS COMMING RIGHT FOR US!" before blowing it, and any civilians in it, to hell.

baleen - 2014-07-27

"Allah is its goal, the Prophet its model, the Quran its
Constitution, Jihad its path and death for the case of Allah its most sublime belief."

SolRo - 2014-07-27

And that's supposed to mean something? Or you just trying to play the 'booo, scary muslims!' card?

baleen - 2014-07-27

It's the 8th amendment in the Hamas charter that they refuse to remove for "internal administrative reasons."
Hipster.

SolRo - 2014-07-27

So keep murdering civilians until it's removed?

baleen - 2014-07-27

That's one way for Putin to deflect criticism for shooting down civilian airliners!

SolRo - 2014-07-27

at least you're a consistent shit-heel.

EvilHomer - 2014-07-27

That's not a very nice thing to call baleen.

Void 71 - 2014-07-27

This place turns into Portal of JIDF anytime anything related to Israel is posted.

Gmork - 2014-07-27

Blood on both sides, at this point it is now meaningless who has more blood on their hands. Both sides are drenched.

baleen - 2014-07-27

I'm not a shitheel, I just know that you don't care about Palestine.

SolRo - 2014-07-27

Shit-heel, you going to keep trying that "you don't really care" line every time you defend Israel killing Palestinians?

Jet Bin Fever - 2014-07-27

Yeah, this conflict is shitty for everyone. I don't want to single out baleen, necessarily, because at least he is pretty informed, though he still has a raging bias for supporting Israel.
What I truly hate is that so many uninformed people are also supporting Israel, because of what they've been fed from our government and media, not having any real context into the war and the terrible hatred behind it.

SolRo - 2014-07-27

Have you read any of the comment sections in the news articles?

It's like an army of baleens there, except much dumber and all calling for genocide.

Really, they make the tea party seem moderate.

baleen - 2014-07-27

I don't "support Israel" so much as I don't think you actually care about Palestinians. I also think you would react in the exact same way.

The secular Jews are migrating from Israel. The dream is broken. The country is doomed. I have repeatedly mentioned how I see a road to peace, and I find it more tenable than a two-state solution.

It is very difficult to blame Israel for going apeshit when Hamas can't even adhere to a five-hour UN brokered ceasefire. This isn't "defending Israel," it's just understanding how Hamas works.

The sole argument seems to be that because Hamas can't kill as many people as they did in the 90's, they are suddenly a legitimate Palestinian governing entity that should be respected. Please forgive me if I continue to piss all over SolRo's face for believing this.

SolRo - 2014-07-27

Oh Shit-Heel, keep beating that "you don't really care" drum, you defiantly don't seem like a jackass for doing so.

And Shit-Heel, are you really so stupid as to think your one state solution would work with how racist Israeli policy toward non-Jewish immigrants is already and how the government is run for/by genocidal religious zealots?

Anyone not as duplicitous as you could also interpret "one state solution" as "Israel conquers a neighboring country"

baleen - 2014-07-28

Darling, the one-state solution is supported by many people, many of them are not egregious militant Zionists.

You understand that there's a million Palestinians living within Israel and that the majority of them would rather not live anywhere else. Over a 1/10 of college students in Israel are Palestinian. Just across the borders, Palestinians are not permitted to go to college or hold certain jobs. They are kept in camps by their governments and denied citizenship as propaganda tool. The most merciless murderers of Palestine have been the Kuwaitis, who have only recently allowed them back into the country, even so, dumping them in Jordanian concentration camps hardly seems like the way to go. Israel's responsibility aside, why does the Arab League not use their hundreds of billions of dollars to improve the lot of camps outside of Israel's jurisdiction? How do you imagine repatriating the foreign camps back into Israel might look? Where should the million or so Jews who were forced out of their homes on the creation of Israel go, should Finkelstein's vision of a dissolved Israel ever come to fruition?

I would love it if Israel would step up assistance to the camps, but this itself is a very tricky endeavor for reasons I won't go into now (especially with you). They've relaxed restrictions on the port, and in 2005, forcefully removed thousands of settlers from Gaza.

The reason I don't believe that you truly care about Palestine is that you have no actual reason to and your statements continually betray somebody that has absolutely no idea what they're talking about. It's a Leftist trend right now, and it will be forgotten, like Tibet, East Timor, and Rwanda.

Do you understand that there have been several ceasefires, yet Hamas has rejected all of them? Why could this possibly be, and why should Israel not retaliate when they're lobbing dumb missiles over the wall. Would you enjoy your high fructose corn drinks and anime in your basement if missiles were flying around, or would you rush to the internet to post angry comments about how your government should stop this from happening?

Void 71 - 2014-07-28

What's happening in Israel is not a petty tribal conflict that's taking place somewhere in the third world. It's a one-sided slaughter that's being funded by American tax dollars, to the tune of billions of dollars a year. As long as the Israeli lobby is such a powerful force in American politics, this 'leftist trend' (which is actually a decades-old movement that has gradually gained traction) will only continue to spread until Israel becomes even more a global pariah than it already is.

The God of Biscuits - 2014-07-27

That horse is having none of this.

Spaceman Africa - 2014-07-27

Hey you know this isn't some two-sided conflict, and it's actually pretty obvious who the bad guy is. I'll give you some time to think about it.

Spaceman Africa - 2014-07-27

This was supposed to be a reply to StanleyPain

Bisekrankas - 2014-07-27

So, the horse is the bad guy?

TeenerTot - 2014-07-28

Hey, don't knock that horse. He just wants to GTFO.

StanleyPain - 2014-07-27

I don't see how anyone can support either fucking side at this point.

On one side is Israel who have consistently behaved like entitled children and get a pass from the world stage for their decades of claims that a bronze age myth gives them the right to take over an entire country for themselves and do pretty much whatever they want to Arabs because of their entrenched racism. Not to mention, they have been passing Nuremberg style laws for years against Arabs without a trace of irony.

Then we have the Palestinians who voted for a political party whose charter is basically "let's wipe the Jews off of the Earth", consider Jews to be essentially the scourge of mankind, and purposefully insulate themselves using civilians as cannon fodder while they engage in blatant terrorism which is, again, justified because of a bronze-age myth. (the human shields thing is especially bizarre since it implies that Israel might have reservations about killing civilians, which I guess means they're slightly better in that regard to Hamas who openly don't give a shit about civilians...religion mixed with insanity makes for some real interesting political philosophies)

Israel really has one option at this point: destroying all of Palestine and murdering everyone who lives there because their behavior has now left them with no other realistic options for dealing with this whole thing. There is no realistic diplomacy left for them anymore.

On the other hand, Palestine's only option is to continue violent campaigns until there's basically no one left to do any of the fighting since they clearly have no hope of winning and even if Hamas were suddenly in control of a much bigger, more powerful nation-state, they have already stated their first priority is to wage war on pretty much anyone who isn't Muslim.

Maybe at some point in the past blame could be assigned that makes Israel or Palestine the more culpable aggressors, and you can debate that until you die, but we have no reached a point with them where the parties involved want no real solutions. Israel wants to kill arabs, Palestine wants to kill Jews. And while I have heard the excuse that Israel could kill MORE people if they wanted do but they don't so therefore they are somehow exercising restraint, that sounds about as hollow as any statement could get on this whole issue.

Fuck both these countries.

SolRo - 2014-07-27

God damn, go read up on the shit the Israeli police state does to Palestine before you make retarded conclusions about how all Palestinians want to kill Jews and only for religious reasons you clueless so-and-so.

baleen - 2014-07-28

So what's your reading list on Israel-Palestine, SolRo? Just curious.

Spaceman Africa - 2014-07-27

I really don't understand the people who say "oh Israel is bad, but Hamas is also bad too!" like both sides are equally bad. Like violence against Israel by Hamas isn't totally justified when it's bordering genocide against their people at this point.

Void 71 - 2014-07-27

It's a common tactic that the pro-Israel side uses to muddy the waters. They know their position is indefensible so they don't even bother to engage in honest debate.
