Oh look Venture Brothers before they crawled up their own asses.

Nominal - 2014-07-27 Is that show still on? I checked out around 5 years ago when the show became its own wikipedia article. I can't imagine how further it's slid since then.

Spoiler:
The voice of Norm MacDonald as Mike Tyson's talking wiseass pigeon!

SolRo - 2014-07-26 so insightful.

The Mothership - 2014-07-26 You can be anyone, SolRo. Why not be someone?

Okay, you had me at Marquess of Queensbury.

infinite zest - 2014-07-26 Is that because you're a ghost and can see thru your eyelids.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2014-07-26
I'm torn. He's a rapist but...a fascinating cartoon rapist.
|
infinite zest - 2014-07-26 I was thinking the same thing. Like if they made another Naked Gun with OJ Simpson, or decided it was ok to put Tyson back in Zpunch Out. But then along came a pigeon. If anyone's good at addressing these things, it'd be that drunk pigeon.

oddeye - 2014-07-27 It's fucking disgusting how his rape conviction is glossed over. He's human garbage, absolute shit. For example WatchMojo (also shit) did a video about sports stars with convictions and skipped him entirely.
They are by no means alone.
Basically fuck this guy and fuck how he is being remembered.
|
Nominal - 2014-07-27 A 3 year prison sentence is glossing over?
I don't think he's remembered as much aside from "intimidating psycho".

infinite zest - 2014-07-27 I'll admit that I laughed when I saw it in theatres, but I was upset at his scene in The Hangover at first: not because it was sort of a WTF Mike Tyson cameo out of nowhere, but because the joke of the movie was the date rape pills that Zach gave them. Mike's a badass intimidating motherfucker and was pretty funny, but I couldn't help but think how many others in the audience were thinking what I was thinking. After the movie my friends were like "oh let it go, that was like 20 years ago, let the man be." But I still couldn't get it out of my head. A younger generation might remember him simply as the guy who bit Holyfield's ear off, and younger generations still as "that pissed off guy from the Hangover"
But then I think of other celebrities who have a similar scarlet letter like Rob Lowe. I still vaguely remember him as the guy who filmed himself making a sex tape with a 16 year-old as much as I find him funny whenever Parks and Recreation pops up. I know it's different with Lowe (technically 16 is the age of consent in Georgia, uhh thanks wikipedia!?!) and Tyson's actions were much more severe, but he has to live with those mistakes.
|
oddeye - 2014-07-27 No, his rape conviction is glossed over by contemporary media. It's barely mentioned, he is treated as if he hadn't viciously raped someone, like serving some tiny sentence makes it all go away.
So fuck him. He shouldn't be given comedy roles in movies. The only positive attention this shit-bag should ever get should be for in-ring performance at the height of his career and only in a manner that is completely divorced from the man himself.
|
Nominal - 2014-07-28 The only thing he should be positively remembered for was beating the shit out of people for money and not some roles where he tried to make some people laugh?
Your legal demands are strange.

Shoebox Joe - 2014-07-28 So you frown on two consensual adults fisting each other? Wow, way to be progressive, Nominal.

BHWW - 2014-07-27
the late Patrice Oneal, addressing Tyson at one of those Comedy Central roasts "I don't like how...comfortable...white people are around you now."
|
SolRo - 2014-07-27 I think most people these days see Tyson as a trained bear/tiger/whatever...entertaining for sure, but you're scared shitless that he'll maul your face off if someone pokes him the wrong way or runs away in a prey-like manner.
