Interesting. I had what I think was an even more realistic ceramic cat and I put it in the room where a bunch of real kittens were just born because their mom was so young. She had a kitty C section and luckily survived but she was only a kitten herself.. anyway they needed a surrogate mom and they just ignored it.

I had a smart ass cat once who would always turn down toys and other doodads the second she figured out they weren't living. She was a door opening cat, too. She'd pry them open using all four of her limbs, cramming herself between the gate and the inner door. Was rather convenient for her, actually. She probably opened our front door this way 100 times or more, who fucking knows.

Anyway, she fucking hated toys. She also would have fucked this kitten up.
