KoF is a SNK franchise, not one of Capcom's.
I don't imagine turning Terry Bogard or Shiranui Mai into CIA operatives pleased the fans, and that's just one thing to nitpick in this huge mess.

Felix Vasquez, Jr. of Cinema Crazed gave the film one-and-a-half out of four stars, commenting that "yet another semi-classic video game from the nineties is butchered in to yet another half assed lazily made film."

Nikon I was referring to capcom buying the characters for snk v capcom, which if I remember correctly acted as a life jacket for the failing company circa 2000. It didn't work.

yourmother - 2014-08-02

They didn't buy the company or something, they licensed the characters. SNK is still around and making KoF games.

There was this thriftway by my house with a neo geo cabinet and fatal fury was all I played. Next to it was street fighter 1. So I never played 2, just assuming it was like the first one until way after it got a console release.

Zest, you might be thinking of Aruze, the pachinko outfit that bought SNK around 2000 and basically strip-mined the company until it collapsed. The founder of SNK regrouped, formed SNK Playmore, and acquired all the old SNK properties. And yeah, SNK Playmore is still around.

Yeah you're right. I was thinking that Capcom bought the rights, because there was SNK v Capcom, then another one I think after they got bought out by azure (thank you) on the Neo Geo Pocket. I took that to believe that Capcom was helping them out but I also assumed that they bought all the other characters in the process, so if they wanted to they could have the guy from Metal Slug pop up in a game a-la Smash Brothers. There's a good reason why I didn't go to law school :)

Aruze has an office in Biloxi, Mississippi, outside the local air force base next to some Korean restaurants, MMA "gyms", a roach and rat-infested taco shack, tattoo parlors, and a few porno theaters.

I don't know what that has to do with anything, just throwing it out there.

What kind of King of Fighters movie leaves out King, Angel, and Lucky Glauber?!?

Caminante Nocturno - 2014-08-02

AND ATHENA!!!

WHERE THE HELL IS ATHENA?

Kid Fenris - 2014-08-02

I'd swear that the early outlines for this movie had King, with an actress listed for her and everything. Her real name was going to be Kara. That was where I gave up on this ever being good.

OK, so I gave up when I realized it wouldn't have Leona or Kasumi or Eiji Kisaragi or even half of the characters that make King of Fighters fun.

The preload image alone is the definition of boredom.

No shit, I was killing time and the bartender was flipping through channels.. the Chun Li Movie was on IFC of all things. I thought IFC was supposed to be Sam Rockwell and John Tuttoro movies I fall asleep to and not action packed but I dunno.

roofle - 2014-08-02

I remember this movie being awful, no doubt. However there's a bigger sin this movie committed, and that's casting Ray "Darth Maul" Park as Rugal instead of Billy Kane. That oversight is a damn crime against humanity.

Nikon - 2014-08-02

Good call. He could work as Kane.

Scrimmjob - 2014-08-03

Who the fuck is that even supposed to be?

Caminante Nocturno - 2014-08-02

I have to assume that the director had a vendetta against either KoF or film in general, and this was his way of getting revenge.

EvilHomer - 2014-08-02

He probably insisted on using fourth tier characters he "thought looked really cool" against Iori players.
