It's nice that the US invaded two middle eastern countries, demolished their governments, setup some semi-puppet states and propped up both with tons of weapons and armored vehicles.
@ Stanley.. Islam is a religion. I think the burgeoning fundamentalism you see in that region is a symptom of the political/economic forces at work there and not the other way around. Also theres a fairly good culprit for who messed up that region: The British. In the early 20th century they drew a lot straight lines on the map in that area and created several new countries. For example Iraq, which lumped together ethic Sunnis and Shiites in the same boxy country. A lot of the problems in the middle east stem from causes like this.
Often when you see a dead straight line on a map between countries that indicates trouble.
@NoOneInParticular.. this IS thing is interesting. I sort of feel good for them just cus they seem to have their shit together, after a lot the arab spring hippies got themselves killed but also I'm sure any states they create will be fundamentalist hellholes like Al-Queda controlled Afghanistan.
The middle east is a fucking mess, just like most of Africa. European colonialism might have a lot to do with it, but at the end all these people can't solve shit on their own either.
