This movie really did capture the feelings of going around over a day without sleep, past the point where you're too tired to feel tired. One of the worst, drawn out feelings in the world.

Old_Zircon - 2014-08-15

Once I was awake for 70 hours. Never again. Never. Again.

infinite zest - 2014-08-15

One of the few movies where the remake was better than the original. The film Funny Games too, maybe but that was the same director. Departed? I dunno it was ok but the IF trilogy was better.

SolRo - 2014-08-15

missing "Look at me! I'm so edgy!" tag

oddeye - 2014-08-15

I had a tag about how everyone (in the real world too) thinks I'm faking it or forcing it for attention when really I'm not but I forgot to fix them for a new submission. Other than obviously sarcastic posts I pretty much believe everything I say at the time that I said it.

Call me out, call me a shitty guy, call me a dumb bastard, call me anything you like for the truths that I tell BUT please don't call me some fake ass troll, because that's absolutely NOT what I am and one day I will make everyone see it.

Commence your shitty "stfu troll" replies.

EvilHomer - 2014-08-15

You outed yourself before you even began, Mr Eye. I remember just prior to your heel turn, you were openly admiring the work of elaborate, long-game trolls. That was a classic mistake. The essence of trolling (vis-avis simply being a person with unpopular beliefs or who plays the Devil's Advocate) is *intent* - a desire to say and do things in order to illicit a negative reaction - and you established your intent publicly.

But, it's possible that, like Golden Age Cena, you're not so much lying as you are exaggerating your genuine beliefs and personality. Maybe you really do hate Robin Williams? It's certainly a possibility. In that case, I'd agree: it would be most unfair of us to call you a "fake ass troll". Perhaps "real ass troll" would be appropriate?

Anyway, I don't see why we should call you a dumb bastard or a shitty guy. You have a right to your opinions, inconsiderate or not, and hurting your feelings won't do anypony any good!

I'm sorry Robin Williams did not bring you the same amount of joy that he brought the rest of us, but I hear your opinions, and I will try to tolerate them.

oddeye - 2014-08-15

I did indeed attempt long elaborate trolls in the past, how did you remember that?

Homer, you are all right.

Change - 2014-08-15

more like the 'fucking boring' tag

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2014-08-15

Oddeye is not trolling, and he's not being edgey for edgy's sake. I just think he's not getting the big picture.

Personally, I love Robin Williams, but I hate ****RRRROBIN WILLIAMSSSS****, if you know what I mean. You wanted to believe he was happy, but his pain was always visible, wasn't it? There needs no ghost from the grave to tell us that the man made a whole lot of shitty movies, and I find his talk show appearances (which are entitled "hilarious" in youtube) to be pretty painful and unfunny. He couldn't stop. He was always trying to outrun something, presumably whatever it is that finally got him.

But when he was given a real script, he could apply his endless frantic desperate energy with real artistry. Some of his dramatic performances are just as raw and far more honest than his comic performances that are supposed to be so fucking brilliant. If you haven't seen it, his UNCREDITED! performance as a disgraced therapist in Kenneth Branagh's DEAD AGAIN is by itself worth sitting through this silly reincarnation murder mystery, though it's a small role. It's hard to explain this performance, how you feel this guy's humiliation in every line he speaks.

I believe that time will be kind to Robin Williams. Now that he's gone, his talk show persona will fade from memory, the forgettable blockbuster family films will be forgotten, and the breadth and depth of his good work will be appreciated. And, of course, we understand him better now.

Oscar Wildcat - 2014-08-15

Just to be clear:

Trolling is what EvilHomer does when he proclaims that Bowie sucks.

BrownEye is just bein' True to his Self. There is a difference.

Also: Golden Age Cena? I like that. You see, I am paying homage here.

EvilHomer - 2014-08-15

No, I'm totally serious when I say Bowie sucks. If I were trolling, I wouldn't qualify that statement with things like, well, he had a couple decent songs, or, he wasn't the worst musician in the 1970s. I would just flat out lie and say he was the worst crap to ever crap.

He's awful, but I'm a reasonable man, and I'm perfectly willing to give the B-barfz what little credit he's due.

SolRo - 2014-08-15

being an edgy attention whore isn't trolling per se, it's just being a self-absorbed asshole to a person that doesn't deserve it, right after they've just killed themselves.

Old_Zircon - 2014-08-15

I too find every Robin Williams performance I've seen since puberty more or less unwatchable. His film work is like a more literary Adam Sandler and Eddie Murphy did the "do a bunch of coke and talk about fags" standup routine better.

But it's still sad he died, depression's a motherfucker.

Cena_mark - 2014-08-15

I haven't seen it, but I'm interested in how they represent the Alaskan summer. I too had to deal with that midnight sun nonsense.

Nikon - 2014-08-15

What did you do? Aluminum foil over the windows?

Cena_mark - 2014-08-15

Yup.

EvilHomer - 2014-08-15

Who is Roin Williams?

oddeye - 2014-08-15

Wait... we are talking about roBin williams?? I love that guy!

EvilHomer - 2014-08-15

Oh! Oh, well that makes sense. I was wondering why you were saying you hated *Robin* Williams, on account of how pretty much everyone loved him. But all this time, you were thinking of *Roin* Williams.

This whole thing has just been a comedy of errors!

EvilHomer - 2014-08-15

Oh, nevermind, I think perhaps you were being sarcastic. :(

oddeye - 2014-08-15

How come everytime I'm being real people think I'm being sarcastic?!

EvilHomer - 2014-08-15

I deduced that you were being sarcastic. I saw that, shortly after responding to my post, you had changed the title of this video to read "Robin", a correction which strongly indicates that "Roin" was merely a typo. To be honest, I'd suspected that "Roin" was a typo right from the start, but when you responded the way you did, I (briefly) entertained the possibility that I might be wrong.

Further evidence for your sarcasm can be found by rereading your earlier comments, in which you clearly state your dislike for RoBin Williams. No mention of Roin has been made by you, before or since. It is very unlikely, possible but hardly believable, that you've been making repeated typographical errors, rendering "Roin" as "Robin" consistently all this time.

EvilHomer - 2014-08-15

Also, a cursory internet search has turned up not a shred of evidence of the existence of anyone named Roin Williams. In fact, both Google and Bing autocorrect to RoBin Williams, and even thise search engines which don't (such as Startpage) return almost nothing but information on Robin Williams. In fact, the only firm mention of a Roin Williams I've been able to locate so far is via DuckDuckGo, and that is merely a URL from what appears to be a junk domain of the "mistyped address" variety, being offered by squatters to people interested in Robin Williams.

This is why I think you are being sarcastic.

oddeye - 2014-08-15

Fuck, he's onto me....

Maybe I was lying about lying and am actually lying about not lying?

January von Rodeo - 2014-08-15

Hi everyone maybe you guys can help me.

My health problems are too bad right now to figure out how to get the video onto youtube, and onto here. If you know how to do that, you can do that.

I would call it

that was an odd vi deo

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2014-08-15

This is obnixious, but I'm reprinting this post at he bottom of the page, where it will be seen.

EvilHomer - 2014-08-15

I don't get why people keep harping on about how he made some shitty movies. *Every* actor makes some shitty movies, it's just the nature of the craft. Bruce Campbell had The Ice Rink, De Niro had Showtime and The Deerhunter, Denzel Washington had John Q, Orson Welles had everything except Citizen Kane. Hell, Kenneth Branagh was in a couple crappy animated films, IIRC. So what if Robin Williams was in some stinkers? All that means is he was a working man.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2014-08-15

>>So what if Robin Williams was in some stinkers? All that means is he was a working man.

Technically, that's true, but for many people he's more closely identified with the bad movies than most actors. For one thing, he did a lot of them, and they tended to be ROBIN WILLIAMS VEHICLES, wacky guy against the establishment, blah blah blah. There are so many movies that play to the type, when you think of Robin Williams, that's what you think of. A movie like THE BIRD CAGE, which was actually pretty popular, just doesn't come to mind as easily. because it's not a "Robin Williams Movie". And a lot of the bad movies tended to be major releases, and I believe that a lot of them were financially successful. Some (but not all) of his best work tended to be in smaller movies or even television. .

The truth is, as an actor, Robin Williams leaves behind a more disciplined, nuanced, and varied body of work than many people would expect. I can identify with oddeye's opinion, but, like I said, I don't think he's seeing the big picture.

Dib - 2014-08-16

I liked the guy since I was a kid, but I wasn't a complete fan of the schtick comedy. His standup made an impression on me. I prefer Moscow on the Hudson and Fischer King to the rest of his filmography. I hated Mrs Doubtfire.

Now that his career is set, there isn't any particular movie I'll reflect upon in remembering him. If anything, I think his potential was never realized. Comparable to what Jim Carrey was able to accomplish once he broke away from his early schtick. And I've been saying for years that I'd love to see him work with Wes Anderson. I think they could have made a brilliant team, and fit in alongside actors like Bill Murray, Jeff Goldblum and Ed Norton.

Jack Dalton - 2014-08-15

I loved a Robin Williams in "World's Greatest Dad"-- but that's a hard movie to recommend to almost anyone... especially after his suicide.

misterbuns - 2014-08-16

You see through the lies, man. You get it.
