the only possible good thing about this is getting to shoot them into chunks, but if it means having to be a pony yourself, well, might as well just strap a bomb to the megaton warhead and hit the button

EvilHomer - 2014-08-20

It's a Fallout mod, so it shouldn't be too hard to get yourself playing as a Human. In fact, I suspect they've added the Ponies as an extra playable race, rather than a replacer, which means you should be able to go Equestria Girls style without any further modifications on your part (although why you'd want to do this is beyond me! Equestria Girls was good, but come on, it wasn't THAT good)

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2014-08-20

It's been a while since I've been on the Nexus, but they had Pony-humanoid mods as a playable race a long time ago. Not sure which character model is more disturbing.

EvilHomer - 2014-08-20

That makes sense. I haven't been on the Nexus since before FiM was even a show (I used to be a modder myself) but they've stuck ponies into just about everything, so why not Fallout 3?

Raggamuffin - 2014-08-20

Curious to know if a mod can really be considered "pre alpha," I checked out the website for this. Apparently this is not actually a mod, it's a game they are building from the ground up I assume from stolen fallout assets in Unity.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2014-08-20

I do think they're stretching the definition of "mod," but they do acknowledge where the assets come from:

"Fallout 3 models © Bethesda."

They're also not charging anything for this, so I don't think Bethesda would care. If anyone kills it, it'll be Hasbro. They've started trying to own as much of the MLP sub-culture and its derivatives for quite a while now. I don't think they realized where their 20-minute toy commercial series was going to go.

EvilHomer - 2014-08-20

I still haven't read any of Fallout Equestria. I've herd about it, sure; I've seen the fanart, watched some fake movie trailers. But I know almost nothing about the fic itself.

What's it like? It can't possibly be worse than My Little Dashie, right?

Sexy Duck Cop - 2014-08-20

Once upon a time, Bronies justified their hobby by attempting to play it off as semi-ironic and self-deprecating.

At 1:32, a grizzled pony told her alcoholic bunker-mate "Fuck no."

EvilHomer - 2014-08-20

I don't know about "once upon a time". There's been a strong grimdark presence in the fandom for years; perhaps you're just now becoming aware of it?

One fun thing to do is go to a Brony forum and check out some OC biographies. Most of them are edgy and violent in some way. I was reading one the other day, he was a former child soldier pony.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2014-08-20

Because Fallout is a happy-fun setting of sunshine and rainbows?

Redford - 2014-08-20

I searched for "OC pony emo" on google images.

One of the results was a pony, who had slit all of it's wrist analogs, writing "I HATE YOU" on the wall in it's own blood.

Fandom's weird yo.

EvilHomer - 2014-08-20

Well, I can sort of see what SDC is saying. Fallout's got a certain campy, ironic streak to it. It's grim, but it has a sense of humor, and it really likes to juxtapose aggressively square 1950s wholesomeness with Mad Max/ TROMA style post-apocalyptic stuff. These swearing ponies come off as a lot less playful and a bit more mean-spirited!

If I did this, I'd probably want to keep the grizzled ponies to a minimum, and make it more like the Pint-Sized slasher questline - evil but silly.

Sexy Duck Cop - 2014-08-20

Realtalk the sole justification for watching MLP that I can even vaguely relate to is that it's an escape to a simpler time and serves as a respite to the endless dark grittiness of modern TV. Bronies enjoy the show BECAUSE of its childishness and immaturity, not in spite of it. I get that.

By removing all that innocence to tell a legtimately harrowing tale of survival in a pony-apocalypse setting full of grizzled drug addicts and survivors of pony rape, they twist that paradigm into something genuinely terrifying.

infinite zest - 2014-08-20

This show I was working on was next to a bar that had wifi and the password was Puking Unicorn. I looked behind and there was a picture of rainbow dash puking up a rainbow, around her mess of emptys. I thought of you :)

EvilHomer - 2014-08-20

(this guy is not very good at drawing Rainbow Dash puking rainbows. I'm sure your bar picture was better!)

infinite zest - 2014-08-20

Haha I love how it's a tutorial. I kind of wanted to tell her that it's a Pegasus and not a Unicorn, but she was so nice.

infinite zest - 2014-08-20

There's this one too, but it's the only one I could find online.

http://twistnplay.wordpress.com/2014/01/30/happy-hour-3/

That's where I normally hang out. I think it's the same artist.

EvilHomer - 2014-08-20

Oh yeah! I've seen that guy's stuff before, on the internet, but not in person. Dunno who he (she?) is, but that's the sort of "dark" stuff that works really well. It's edgy without being mean.

infinite zest - 2014-08-20

I asked on facebook.. I'll let you know when I find out. They have dollar Rainiers and my favorite pinball (Junkyard) but it's all the way across town from where I'm working right now. See? I use facebook for the important things! NOW STOP INVITING ME TO PLAY CANDYCRUSH! FACEBOOK RUINED THAT GAME FOR ME!!! :)

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2014-08-20

I like the fact this exists. It means ponies invented nukes and then used them on each other.

13.5 - 2014-08-20

I think they replaced the nukes with magic

It seems some things other than friendship are also magic

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2014-08-20

I think it's safe to say everything in this has been replaced with magic, which is fair, since this is post-apoc where radiation itself behaves like magic.

Pillager - 2014-08-20

Friendship. Friendship never changes.

That guy - 2014-08-20

nope

Caminante Nocturno - 2014-08-20

When's Little Pip showing up in an actual episode?

memedumpster - 2014-08-20

I would normally consider one starring this, but there's a juicy jumbo Skrimp video in the hopper I'm holding out for.

Sexy Duck Cop - 2014-08-20

Ooh ooh can we get a preview of your hilarious witticism

Will it look something like a cunty one-word one-star comment

Sexy Duck Cop - 2014-08-20

"Ponies"

--memedumpster, to thunderous applause

memedumpster - 2014-08-20

I was thinking of writing a limerick for it actually.

dairyqueenlatifah - 2014-08-20

Jesus Christ.

MurgatroidMendelbaum - 2014-08-20

WHERE ARE THE SEX MODS YOU GUYS

cognitivedissonance - 2014-08-20

I don't understand the MLP phenomenon. I don't understand Bronies. But I won't judge them. I consider them exactly the same as the recent wave of Hipster Transgenderism that's swept now that gay marriage is considered normal. It seems like suddenly it's cool to be Transgendered, merely because previously it was cool to be gay and now being gay is super square and Middle American. None of them ever actually follow through with the hormones or surgery, they just wear a barrette in their ear and a dress and consider it edgy. It is neither new nor unique.

I feel like that about Bronies. I don't understand why they do what they do, and it's just not for me, but on the other hand, I feel like going all Roland Barthes on it and dissecting it for what it is: a transactional method of talking about traditionally taboo subjects for men, especially young men, to talk about. It's like how homosexual fantasy is acceptable if within the confines of sporting paradigms. A man can think about another man in a semi-sexual fashion, as long as the other man is wearing a sporting uniform.

Then again, there are other semi-fetishes that lurk on the Internet that I'm cool with, and even have dabbled in, only to find myself eventually disgusted by my own interest in them. I'll leave you to guess what they are.

Spaceman Africa - 2014-08-21

"I don't understand Bronies. But I won't judge them. I consider them exactly the same as the recent wave of Hipster Transgenderism" what in the ever-loving fuck

Caminante Nocturno - 2014-08-22

You're using way too many words just to tell us that you don't understand a cartoon and/or the people that watch it.

EvilHomer - 2014-08-22

Yeah, no offense Cog, but you're operating under the assumption that there is something gender-taboo about the show. There isn't. My Little Pony is the most gender-agnostic show on television right now, and while it's tempting to assume that there is something inherently "girly" about My Little Pony, that men have to "transgress" in order to participate in it, the fact is that this assumption does not hold up once you actually start watching the show.

In fact, if anything, My Little Pony is taboo by NOT being taboo! Which is to say, it presents a wide range of social concepts, and then refuses to editorialize, instead choosing to depict all lifestyles (from the traditional to the transgressive) as equally valid and capable of coexistence. This is a rather radical concept, as nearly every packet of media these days (from shows to magazines to news stories posted on Facebook) chooses to take a side in the so-called culture wars, whether it's Duck Dynasty firing shots at "queer-ass liberals", or Glee presenting cisgendered fratjocks as nothing more than dumb malicious closet-cases. My Little Pony accepts ALL of society, just the way it is. You've got your traditional girly-girls (Rarity), bluecollar conservatives (Applejack), career-oriented women (Twilight), family-oriented women (Fluttershy), tomboy lesbians (Rainbow, Scootaloo), beta males (Spike), alpha males (Big Mac, Roid Rage), metrosexuals (Shining Armor), possible furry rape-fetishists (Discord)... I could go on, but you get the picture. "Why it is that men watch My Little Pony" is a bogus question, because the simple fact of the matter is, there's no reason why they shouldn't!

People who have never seen My Little Pony always ask the wrong questions about it. (I did, too, so I won't judge anyone.) The question you *should* be asking is: why is it that outsiders automatically assume that a "girl's show" must be... well, girly? And why must all of our focus be on the male experience, anyway? My Little Pony is properly viewed, not as a show that challenges the concept of what it means to be a man, but rather, as a show that challenges the concept of what it means to be "for girls".

Jet Bin Fever - 2014-08-20

I keep hoping the nerds will flock to something new. Sadly, some dumb shit hangs on like persistent dingleberries.

And my god that voice acting. Okay, +1 for the voice acting.

The New Meat - 2014-08-20

This is dumb.

Gmork - 2014-08-21

I still prefer the walking hourglass women.

American Standard - 2014-08-21

Pointless and unpleasant.

Sexy Duck Cop - 2014-08-21

It's amazing how many people still utterly miss the point of this site.

dairyqueenlatifah - 2014-08-21

If you're referring to the one stars, we aren't missing the point of the site. Somethings just aren't interesting in any way, they're just crap. Bad? Sure, but not exceptionally, certainly not to the point of being worthy of the PoE label.

This is one of those things. It's just crap. Not infuriating crap. Not funny crap. Not horrifying/shocking crap. Just crap.

Sexy Duck Cop - 2014-08-21

Dude, it's a 100-hour mod based on a gritty fanfiction of My Little Pony that is longer than War and Peace. There aren't two consecutive parts of this that aren't classic PoE. And I should know. I've been on here for half my life.

Jesus. Half my life. I started at age 14. I'm 28.

I'm 28.

I'm 28.

I'm 28.

Five stars.

Spaceman Africa - 2014-08-21

Too much effort went into this

Nominal - 2014-08-21

Sorry this might have been interesting at some point but I'm tired of all the damn pony crap and EvilHomer/Cena's sprawling monologues that long ago stopped fermented into sad.
