It's weird. I had this really vivid dream the other night that Gwar were opening for my band, and I was really nervous because (and this is true) the first cassette I ever purchased was Hell-O. Why were they opening for my band? I have no idea. Oderus wasn't there, and they had a Contrabassoon sitting on the floor and I tripped over it, bending the bocal. I'm not sure what that dream meant but I woke up, thinking about how I missed EVERY SINGLE OPPORTUNITY to see Gwar, as formative as they were for me at 13, 14.. and how, even without Brockie I'd like another chance to see them.

You have a band? I thought you worked in a movie theater.

haha no I haven't worked in a movie theatre for years. I'm in various bands throughout Portland but haven't fronted one since 1999; during that brief period of time when the Paris was an all-ages music instead of an adult theatre before it turned into a hentai theatre, we played most of our shows there. The Satyricon was still 21+ and the meowmeow was still a couple of years away, so that was the place! When the Opera laid me off I took door jobs at shows and such, and became a respite caregiver and mostly am there to sing, or play Bassoon or keyboards.. I prefer to stay out of the spotlight unless I've got a lighting or AV job for an upcoming show.

I was in a band when I worked in the movie theatre in Wisconsin though. But we'd just have house shows which would mostly devolve into Velvet Underground songs because we were all incredibly drunk

How did Oderus die in-universe?

Scrimmjob - 2014-08-28

I have some friends who swear the last time they saw GWAR the person in the Oderus costume was not Dave Brockie. Does anyone know if they were touring without him before he died?

They swap out people pretty routinely. When the guitarist died, they got someone from Cannibal Corpse to take over (I think he might still be in the band) and going forward the guy who used to be Beefcake The Mighty will be playing Oderus Urungus. As far as I know, the characters don't really "die" in universe.
