I was of that generation who knew this song years before I knew what an MC5 was. I kind of regret not seeing them last time they toured. The best thing was that Weird Al covered Lump and ostensibly broke the wall of parodying a song that was already a novelty song. It wasn't. Like Harvey Danger, they just got caught up in whatever the fuck the 90s were.
