eww. I try to stay vegan for health reasons but I'm not one of those vegans who believes.. blah blah blah I have to explain this on every date. A relative of mine had one of these things and he was veggie before it was cool.
Bless you for linking that tag in the grossest, silliest way possible. Sadly, these aren't meatworms. :(
Ascaris lumbricoides generally aren't found in meat. They are geohelminths and come from infected soil... so this was most likely an infection that came from eating some raw or badly cooked vegetables that were fertilized with feces containing the ascaris eggs. These are definitely ascaris too, judging from the shape, the size of the bolus, and the size of the parasite.
Come on vegan guy, there are plenty of fun meat-based parasites out there to propagandize. So why choose one that doesn't have anything at all to do with meat? Amateur!
The great thing is that whoever originally started spreading that video around knowingly clipped off the bumper text explaining it. I'm almost certain I remember seeing it, and it was explicitly stated that it was a kid with the worms.
People peddling health lifestyles that often require instruction and/or purchases would intentionally mislead or misinform their prospective clients or followers? Perish the thought!
