So what did Joan Rivers do to you, John? Did she diss Boxxy?

EvilHomer - 2014-09-08

BTW, I was just watching the FiM Recapped episode where she did Maud Pie. WTH?! Why didn't she have a costume for Maud Pie??? I was sooooo looking forward to seeing Boxxy do my favorite second-tier supporting-class pony! :(

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2014-09-09

Yeah, I like Maud, too, but that episode was early on, and she started with the basic characters and has been building up a wardrobe over time.

For a moment, I thought you were talking about Joan Rivers.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2014-09-09

When she died, (Joan, not Catie) I was still mad about her for her rant about Palestinian civilians deserving to die. Eventually, I was able to take the long view. See below for the tl:dr version.

Howard Stern's eulogy began with a series of jokes about Joan's vagina. Look it up if you don't believe me.

women with opinions are crazy i think we can all agree on that

Enjoy - 2014-09-08

Loved her

TimidAres - 2014-09-08

It would be a laugh if this were true.

infinite zest - 2014-09-08

You guys do realize that she passed away on September 4th 2014, right?

memedumpster - 2014-09-08

We don't count the dead, she would have wanted it that way.

Sudan no1 - 2014-09-08

She has made tasteless jokes about dead people before, so yeah. You sow what you reap or whatever.

Sanest Man Alive - 2014-09-08

If only poeTV were hosted on a bizarro-hypertime webcube where shit flies out of the hopper before it's even submitted.

StanleyPain - 2014-09-08

I don't wish death on her, but I think she was a pretty mediocre comedian, frankly. Revolutionary for breaking into the world of stand up where women were pretty non-existent, yes, but this hagiographic treatment of the last 20 or so years of her career which consisted of basically shitty put down jokes to women walking down red carpets and saying incredibly stupid things (Palestinians deserve to die! Nice how the media forgot about that one in this rush to lionize her) under the guise of "oh, I was joking. hurr."

fluffy - 2014-09-08

Yeah, I keep on saying it but I liked her a lot better before she got crotchety. Her old self-effacing, everyday-issues humor was great. Her more recent stuff, not so much.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2014-09-08

I'm going to copypasta from this:

(The Electric Company) Letterman - Small Talk

I always liked Joan Rivers, for years and years, but then came her horrific rant about Palestinian civilians deserving to die, and I decided that I hated her. And then, four weeks later, she died.

I miss her terribly.

Never knew this was her. These voice overs were wonderful. i was to say that they were "sexy". So I will. Thanks for posting the sexy Joan Rivers cartoon.

Yeah, I liked her older self-effacing humor a lot better than her crotchety old bitch "humor." Don't forget her weird thing about calling Michelle Obama a "tranny."

Forget it? I'm the one who submitted that, along with the description heading, "Rest in Peace, you crazy old shrew." It was my initial reaction, and ever since I've been hoping that it won't make it out of the hopper.

Here's the thing about that. My best friend is a 69 year old disability advocate for legal aid. She and I were lovers 20 years ago, but now it's like we're married. This woman is undeniably crazy. She has a history of being sexually abused by her father that is so horrible I try not to think about it. She has a hoarding problem that's worse than anything you've ever seen on reality TV. She's incredibly generous and she saves lives. Years ago, she met a man with a similar history of abuse and a horrible physical disability and they became brother and sister, and she took care of him for the rest of his life. I helped her take care of him at the end, and it's one of the few things I am truly proud of. When I die, you can put "ASSWIPER" on my tombstone.

But she has a streak of anger running through her like you would not believe: at politicians, at other drivers who do absolutely nothing wrong, at me, and at, uh, niggers arabs and jews.

Yep. Now, this woman has thrown her whole self into getting help for people who are members of these same groups, fought government bureaucracies, and worked miracles for these people. But her racist rants are the kind of thing you normally only see on the internet.

Here is someone who had horrible things done to her, and has done a lot of wonderful things, and turns all the rage into words. That's a kind of alchemy.

Good people can say terrible things. I think we all have examples from our own lives.
