There was a time I would think those kids just needed proper guidance and understanding.

Now I think they just need to be hit in the face with a pipe.

I don't really want them to get hit in the face with a pipe, but the idea is very satisfying somehow.

il fiore bel - 2014-09-08

Well, some basic empathy as children might have kept them from being complete wastes of skin.

MacGyver Style Bomb - 2014-09-08

Mike Haggar: Youth Counselor.

BorrowedSolution - 2014-09-08

The video description on YouTube implies that it's possible that no legal investigation has even started over this.

-_-

BorrowedSolution - 2014-09-08

Damnit, wasn't supposed to be a reply.

Pope Caius - 2014-09-08

Police are investigating, according to an article posted nine hours ago.

oddeye - 2014-09-08

It's very telling that pressure was needed to get a result in this important matter when an investigation being held should have been taken as a given by anyone half-decent.

spikestoyiu - 2014-09-08

Two arrests have been made:

Shoebox Joe - 2014-09-08

UPDATE FROM SPIKESTOYIU's LINK: a third teen turned himself in.

EvilHomer - 2014-09-09

I really wish the media would stop hammering on at the word "bullying". This is not "bullying". This is assault. *Assault*. I know bullying is a popular buzzword right now, and I get why news writers like to include it whenever they can, but every time "bullying" is used in this manner - incorrectly, to describe far more serious and overtly criminal acts - the word loses it's meaning, becoming both more serious in implication, and less valid as a descriptor for the type of behavior it traditionally signifies. Misusing the word bullying is... literally (hemhem) killing our ability to think critically and objectively about such issues.

Another thing I have a problem with is the quote by the teen who ratted out his douchebag friends:

>> "If you beat up a mentally disabled person, you should be locked away for good."

EvilHomer - 2014-09-09

This is absurd! Locked away, sure. But locked away *for good*? Especially considering that the perps in question are all around 13 years old?!

I fully support the anonymous teen's decision to turn narc. While I am against snitching and buddy-fucking in cases of non-violent criminal behavior (such matters should be handled internally, on a community level), this particular incident is completely cut and dry. The fuckers deserve to be arrested. However, I am worried about the apparent enthusiasm which the narc displays towards the criminal justice system. It is possible that his statement was made in the heat of the moment, and does not reflect any actual desire to see minors receive life sentences over assault. But it is still a very worrying statement, and worse yet, the media reprints it without any apparent editorial counterpoint. On the contrary, the quote is presented prominently and matter-of-factly, as if it is a voice of reason with which we the audience are meant to agree.

spikestoyiu - 2014-09-09

That narc sounds like a real piece of shit! Lock him up!

TeenerTot - 2014-09-08

Thanks, PoETV for breaking my heart today.

TeenerTot - 2014-09-08

Just TAKE them, okay? :,(

Simillion - 2014-09-08

this is even worse than smack.swf. five stars *sigh*

Hammer Falls - 2014-09-09

From: http://6abc.com/news/3-arrests-in-videotaped-attack-on-mentally-ch allenged-man/298473/

"Action News reporter David Henry encountered one of the suspects at police headquarters. When asked if he had anything to say about the incident, the teen said to his mother, "Am I going to have to beat him too?"

An apparent admission of guilt from one of the alleged perpetrators."

spikestoyiu - 2014-09-09

Which one of these turds thinks they're a tough guy? Is it the dude who weighs 75 pounds? The kid who's four feet tall?

Jet Bin Fever - 2014-09-08

Wow. And one day after the autistic kid shit bucket challenge video. Really pouring on the evil here.

BorrowedSolution - 2014-09-08

Persons with Disabilities Abuse Week is a sad week.

Spaceman Africa - 2014-09-08

Its not just weekly, it's the whole year.

TimidAres - 2014-09-08

Ive seen a lot of American news networks reporting cases like these lately.
Are attacks on the mentally challenged becoming more common, or is this just the latest trend in shock journalism?
This is terrible.

Pope Caius - 2014-09-08

It's mostly due to increased exposure of these attacks through social networking sites. While attacks on people with disabilities are nothing new, video of such attacks are now more available and more viral than they've ever been.

spikestoyiu - 2014-09-08

I think PC is exactly right. Shit like this was not rare in elementary and middle school.

oddeye - 2014-09-08

Despite the risks of going to jail, has the potential to become famous for beating up the "mentally challenged" caused more attention starved teens to commit AND post videos of this shocking crime online?

More at 11.

fluffy - 2014-09-08

And back then people didn't record their misdeeds for preservation to show the world how badass they were for beating up a disabled person.

At least now the idiots have ready access to technology that they don't think about the implications of using.

oddeye - 2014-09-08

Maybe these kids just needed to be given a chance. Fuck their parents

ashtar. - 2014-09-08

I blame violent video games.

oddeye - 2014-09-08

Kids these days have NO RESPECT: clear sign of the "End Times"

EvilHomer - 2014-09-09

Lack of ponies and also MK-Ultra.

Old_Zircon - 2014-09-08

"Abuse of the developmentally disabled" week is a rough week so far.

BorrowedSolution - 2014-09-08

Your title excludes the abuse of the physically disabled! ABLIST!

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2014-09-08

I can't watch this. It's too much. Here are your stars. I'm going to go listen to Aqua now.

EvilHomer - 2014-09-09

It's funny you mention that, because I've been listening to Aqua non-stop ever since Beat Up the Mentally Challenged Week started.

SixDigitDebt - 2014-09-09

5 for evil.

Why does this never happen in front of me?

That guy - 2014-09-09

You work at the wrong bar?

Nikon - 2014-09-09

Sorry guys, I don't want to see this. Here's five stars anyway.

BorrowedSolution - 2014-09-09

Yeah, you really don't. I'm okay with watching a mutual altercation, and who doesn't love a good "Underdog beats the shit out of some bullies" story?

I could have totally done without ever watching this, though. This is not a feel-good story.

That guy - 2014-09-09

Same - I give my five and move on. There is no need to click play here.

dairyqueenlatifah - 2014-09-09
