I love the first still from the Malibu Stacie episode. Guy on the left approves.

So I'm confused. Is this still part of this top 40 garbage culture of making intentionally shit songs "ironically" or is it actually a shit song?

infinite zest - 2014-09-15 I'm not sure. I'm sure you know this but Usher's the guy who "discovered" Justin Bieber, and I don't think he does anything ironically. The man self-described as "Fat Usher," Patrice Wilson, might be, given the viral success of his creepy-as-fuck Alison Gold videos. In a lot of my circles, people still sing pop songs at karaoke or something, which is pretty much how I know them: I was at a party the other night and since it was youtube and you could find any song, I requested a Buffy Sainte Marie song, which was a bit of a party foul (even though it's a beautiful song) and Britney Spears immediately after got the crowd moving again. These kids are mostly hipster as all fuck. So to answer your question, I think Usher knows what he's doing, and could probably craft better songs, but those songs don't move like, say Turn Down for What, which everyone can enjoy, ironically or not.
