I don't know how I feel about this. I grew up on GWAR but never saw them live. They were always playing 21+ shows and by the time I was 21, I sort of forgot about them, and how much they meant to me growing up, until Brockie died. On one hand, Dave Brockie was not Dave Brockie to most people, and I'm willing to bet that many a fairweather GWAR fan didn't even know his real name until March of this year. On the other hand, this isn't exactly like The Misfits, or for a better example, The Germs, which reformed some 27 years later with a different frontman.. I dunno, it just seems a little too soon to me, but Mr. Urungus probably would've wanted it this way. 5 for GWAR always.

I know this goes against the grain, but I honestly thought Brockie's stuff outside of GWAR as DBX was way better. GWAR is fun and all, but a bit limiting. I honestly had hoped X-Cops might become a "thing" and they would sort of continue down that route because as cool as GWAR is, the whole idea of a GWAR-esque band of fake cops seemed way more entertaining.

Yeah. In a way I agree. I loved Hell-O up to Ragnarock, but after then I stopped paying attention. Last time I had thought about them was back in 2003 or so when they poured their blood onto the streets. The venue in question was very residential and the news picked up on it as a sign of the apocalypse. Nope. I was like "oh shit! GWAR!" But my co-worker would play Dave Brockie experience all the time, and strangely enough wasn't ever a GWAR fan (so he claims.) It's fair to say that GWAR more-or-less worked like a show. When Mrs. Krababble died on the Simpsons, they didn't say "ok it's over now" even though Marcia Wallace was one of the most important characters. Had it been a real-life sitcom, well I guess "the show must go on."

I mentioned it before, but I was listening to GWAR years before I knew that they did anything at all theatrical, so Brockie's voice, and the punk nature of their early stuff just stuck with me. When I found out that Brockie wasn't Brockie and there was this whole fucking backstory, my mind was blown. But good music was good music. If nothing else, this means that I'm gonna have a chance to see GWAR.

11/11 at the Roseland.... all ages. Will I see you there, Infinite Zest? We can kick ass on some high school kids and ride the meat grinder together, it'll be great.

Yeah! I kind of know American Sharks; they're friends of friends. We're sort of in a pinball gang together, but in different states.. fuck it I'll just save 20 bones and get drunk at the ash before the show. :)

This also might be a good litmus test for this gal I've kind of sort of been seeing. She really likes east coast stuff like Fugazi, Nation of Ulysses, etc. but I think to hang with me you really have to be down with GWAR too. I sort of wish it was a different Kim (Kim Goss specifically) but I think she's kind of out of that loop, and I think Alex Laiho is dating Dylla now. Maybe not. Oh well. There you go, this is what I spend my gossip time on. Anyway yeah I'm bringing a posse! GTMO Baywatch has a whole bunch of lizard costumes and I'll see if they wanna go too. This'll be fun.

The Mothership - 2014-09-23

Got a spare lizard costume? Either that or I will just wear a white t-shirt.

And now we have a band with no original members carrying on with 2 vocalists and the current Balsac being the oldest member. I have no idea how I feel about this but I guess they have gotten so big and have so many things going on under them that it would be hard for them to just quit. I can also see this as being vastly different from the cash grab that was Death's reunion tour without Chuck. You can replace Dave I guess which is why they have 2 new characters instead of putting someone in the Oderus suit.

Old_Zircon - 2014-09-23

Napalm Death ran out of original members at least a decade ago, but I only ever really listened to Scum and The Peel Sessions much, anyway.

Old_Zircon - 2014-09-23

In fact it was much longer than that because I first heard about it in 9th or 10th grade. They were out of original members before they were a decade old.

oddeye - 2014-09-22

Fuck all this stupid GWAR shit and their shit music. That lady is hella hot.
