This one understands viral marketing well.

Sanest Man Alive - 2014-09-22

I wish her well, but getting to quit the hell out of your job on live TV is already a career highlight.

SolRo - 2014-09-22

And a career ender

It's a bold move. I live just south of the border from Washington, where weed's legal (not that everyone didn't know that) and there's a bunch of headshops that now sell weed that have opened up (again, not that everyone didn't know that.)

The problem is, in Oregon you need to have an OMMP card, just like you need an OLCC card to serve alcohol. Both of those are fine, but with one you can take a test, with the other you need to have a condition that gives you medical weed. I drink alcohol but I don't smoke weed (anymore.) But unless I was prescribed it, I couldn't get a pretty cool job. If you wanted to be a bartender and didn't drink, no problemo. In fact, that's probably a good thing that you aren't doing what you're selling, especially on the job. It goes a lot deeper than giving stoners good jobs: west coast weed's pretty good and trustworthy, but the reason I quit was because of an experience that I probably shouldn't get into. But think of it as if you went to your local watering hole and the bartender poisoned your drink as they poured it.

Legalization will probably put an end to trappers, but then they'd have jobs, could open up their own shops, and not have to hide out in the woods. But the way news media covers it is this Cheech and Chong bullshit, immediately associating the marijuana leaf with a Steal Your Face bumper sticker and that's not fair.

Perfect.

I'm surprised she didn't pull out a bong right there on camera.

I like how the big media draw for this story is the profanity, even though FCC guidelines only prohibit the use of indecent/profane language between 6:00 AM and 10:00 PM, and this was just after the watershed.

As for the conflict-of-interest/professional ethics issues, Charlo Greene/Charlene Egbe might have knowingly reported on the Alaska Cannabis Club without disclosing her involvement, or she might have been repeatedly assigned the stories, and decided to come clean in a manner that would maximize attention for her service. In any case, it's an issue between her and KTVA. There's no way the station wouldn't have written her off the way she quit; it's the context that matters here.

This is a surprise from the country where depictions of violent killings is more acceptable than bad language?

Raggamuffin - 2014-09-23

Sure I burned a bridge, but only because it was made out of high-test sticky.
