Wow. The media are going to have a fucking field day with this, and Destructive Creations are going to get filthy rich.

Anagramother - 2014-10-17

it gets worse- it's made by white supremacists

MacGyver Style Bomb - 2014-10-17

Holy shit.

Gmork - 2014-10-17

Lovecraft was a worthless racist cunt, but I still like the Cthulhu mythos.

Pirating this.

Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2014-10-17

That photo. Room full'a creepy creepy males.

dairyqueenlatifah - 2014-10-17

Please tell me that site is a joke? It's just post after post of SJW "MEN ARE EVIL" whining...Poe's Law is in full effect.

Who cares if there's one or two racist edgelords on the dev team if it's not reflected in the product though? Orson Scott Card is a homophobic asshole but I still enjoyed Ender's Game and Empire.

I honestly don't get why everyone is having such a hissyfit over this shitty trailer though. You can do this same shit in 90% of all sandbox games ever released. Does the fact that the protagonist is now an angsty Slipknot fanboy suddenly push it over the edge somehow?

Manhunt was a lot more gruesome in terms of both killing animations and plot, and that came out some ten years ago.

Nominal - 2014-10-17

Yeah those guys are part of shitty political groups but what is the article talking about that any of that carrying over to the game? Portraying the main character as an unhinged psychopath is supposed to be propaganda? That's like calling Taxi Driver neo nazi propaganda.

"conspicuously lingers on the white protagonist brutally murdering and mutilating people of color"

Over half of the victims are fat balding white men. No execution is lingered on more than the others. The author does not know the definition of "mutilating".

I'm kind of glad this game exists if for nothing else than getting people to wonder how stuff like Call of Duty is any better. If you're going to make a shooter, either make it completely insane like Postal 2, Doom, or Bulletstorm, or make it totally honest about brutality like this or Spec Ops: The Line. To me, realistic, sanitized violence like Call of Duty is the worst possible middle (although kudos for that recent CoD airport level that made people think).

Spaceman Africa - 2014-10-17

DQL I don't know how you can be so naive as to think that "Who cares as long as its not reflected in the product" when there might be a kind of obvious agenda behind it.

Pope Caius - 2014-10-17

I can't wait to see what Varg Vikernes will have to say.

Gmork - 2014-10-17

What can I say? The game looks clean. The engine looks solid and lots of little destruction details are everywhere.

The agenda seems obvious, make a horribly violent, unsympathetically brutal portrayal of someone going on a rampage. It kind of captures the entire spirit of Postal.

Oh? It took actual nutjobs to put all that lovingly psychopathic effort into this?

You don't say. ::gene wilder meme::

That guy - 2014-10-18

tumblr and this game should just get it over with and fuck already

Old_Zircon - 2014-10-18

Lovecraft supposedly got over his racism and recanted most of it late in his life, though it's open for debate whether or not that made him much less of a worthless cunt.

Old_Zircon - 2014-10-18

"Nominal

"

Well the ARE Polish AMIRITES>?

Anagramother - 2014-10-19

I think it's important to note that neo-nazis don't just hate other races. They hate cultures inclusive of other races and probably dream of shooting sprees like this. Also, the content they choose to include in the trailer wouldn't be pointed toward a white power crowd- most games wouldn't promote around their controversial faults. The tip of the hat here is its a game called "Hatred".

Caminante Nocturno - 2014-10-17

I kept waiting for it to reveal it was a parody, but...

spikestoyiu - 2014-10-17

How long before this is entered as evidence in a school shooting trial?

lotsmoreorcs - 2014-10-17

the youtube comments

kingarthur - 2014-10-17

Well that's unsettling and creepy.

Albuquerque Halsey - 2014-10-17

If vidya is 'art' , then games like this need to exist.

Wander - 2014-10-17

Games like this don't need to exist, no.

Sudan no1 - 2014-10-17

this 'topic' has been done to death by games already

columbine massacre RPG
postal
any sandbox game where you're allowed to go apeshit on pedestrians

If this game was a painting, it would be so cliche Thomas Kinkade would call you a hack.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2014-10-17

It's Postal 1 & 2 but without the charm.

And their title font looks like a ripoff of the "Doom" logo.

crasspm - 2014-10-18

Yah. Postal at least had great wry humour and a pleasant soundtrack. Also, it wasn't the objective of the game to murder the innocent. In fact in Postal 2 the objective was things like "pick up a carton of milk" and "pay parking ticket". This is just an anti-social murder simulator and that's it.

Robin Kestrel - 2014-10-17

Is Nathan Explosion the only playable character?

magnesium - 2014-10-17

Nathan Explosion was exactly who I thought of, as well.

Meerkat - 2014-10-18

Me too.

Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2014-10-17

I think this is a great idea! Even if its intention is actually serious and not parody (poe's law in effect there for me). I think it will throw some perspective on the mass of contemporary popular computer games (your call of duties and so on), which, aside from a few elements of tone are really very similar to this mechanically and in terms of what you are doing: shooting people.
Perhaps it will make some people think a bit. Say someone who is playing a lot of COD might realize that this detestable game is very similar to the game they play lot.
As someone who loves and appreciates the artform of computer games it has saddened me that in the past decade or so the average popular game boils down to 'shoot people'.
I mean maybe its pointless, maybe its economic law that the most popular art will be hollywood blockbuster superhero movie style crap, but it doesnt also need to be violent and distateful. (sorta rambling now) but in the past the most popular games were not violent and they were innovative too (tetris, pac-man, asteroids, mario bros etc.)

lotsmoreorcs - 2014-10-17

yeah it's a real think piece, what with the shooting the asian woman in the mouth

Maru - 2014-10-17

Scapegoats don't throw light on things--that's the opposite of what they do.

Miss Henson's 6th grade class - 2014-10-17

That would be "Calls of Duty"

magnesium - 2014-10-17

This is so painfully 90's. Five stars for trying too hard.

Pope Caius - 2014-10-17

I thought those exact same words before scrolling down so *****

Binro the Heretic - 2014-10-17

Stars for evil.

Anyway, I look forward to someone making mods that turn this into a game about being super-nice.

"HAVE SOME PRETTY FLOWERS!"

"I GOT YOU SOME CHOCOLATES!"

"SUPER-SOAKER FIGHT! HA-HA-HA-HA-HA!"

Nominal - 2014-10-17

All someone has to do is put out a mod that changes nothing but adding fedoras to everyone and all complaints of sickening violence will vanish.

Mike Tyson?! - 2014-10-17

NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL EDGY.

Spaceman Africa - 2014-10-17

This actually looks really boring. I mean how long would you go on a rampage in GTA before getting tired and eventually continuing on with the mission? No doubt they're banking on a huge media backlash to sell this.

Gmork - 2014-10-17

You've never properly gone on a rampage, then. It's like a stream of consciousness poem formed by the bodies of dead people.

Maru - 2014-10-17

You think the hysterical media scaring away all the publishers and distribution platforms is going to sell anything?

Riskbreaker - 2014-10-17

Video games don't need to be this "edgy" to cause scandals anymore, all they need to do is feature a female character with a C-cup and that's it.

magnesium - 2014-10-17

I'm pretty sure in today's climate, a combat-free game all about a team of puzzle-solving lesbians and their feelings would generate a controversy shit-storm so great that it would sell millions of copies.

SolRo - 2014-10-17

don't forget the death threats...so many death threats.

from 'definitely not homophobic or misogynistic' dudes.

Caminante Nocturno - 2014-10-18

It's so hard being a victim in today's fast-paced world!

Nominal - 2014-10-18

In the future:

Current events news reporting sources will consist entirely of blog posts.

All google image search results on any subject will be nothing but mock motivational posters.

The law of physics will be rewritten so that momentum = mass x (internet death threats). The Westboro Baptist Church will rise up as the most powerful movement in history, eventually uniting the planet under the God Fag Hate Emperor.

Riskbreaker - 2014-10-20

The funny thing is, a lot of current news reporting sources ARE from blog posts. There's at least two weekly notes in many news sites that claim as fact some made up bs somebody posted on facebook.

Maru - 2014-10-17

Looks fine to me.

Miss Henson's 6th grade class - 2014-10-17

Is there any reason this guy couldn't have carried out his murderous rampage on a nice, sunny day?

That guy - 2014-10-18

5 for evil
5 for the poetv comments- every one of them

Pillager - 2014-10-18

How long until it hits Steam?

craptacular - 2014-10-18

The animation looks pretty good and I like the isometric perspective. Gameplay looks pretty boring though.

Old_Zircon - 2014-10-18

Say what you want about the game, but that sequined jacket is pretty fabulous.
