"Hugh Jackman Sci-Fi Movie"

FUUUUUCK

YOOOOUUUUUUU

(Blomkamp needs to get away from the A-list actors, so he rightfully gets the mentions instead of getting upstaged)

Aelric - 2014-11-04

That white haired girls voice alone might make me avoid this movie.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2014-11-04

Yeah I'm not feeling this one. Her accent is like listening to a coffee grinder.

Adham Nu'man - 2014-11-04

Yolandi is the hottest woman alive and her annoying voice is a gift from God. Still, this film looks like absolute shit.

RedHood - 2014-11-04

It's Yolandi Visser, you know who she is stop lying.

Meerkat - 2014-11-04

There was a story in Heavy Metal, I think it was called "Only Connect: A Sequence" or something like that.

Anyway it was about robots killing each other for spare parts. I would like to see a movie about that.

Man, I miss the early Heavy Metals with Mobius and Bode's Sunpot. I should try to find and buy them.

hammsangwich - 2014-11-04

Is this going to make me weep openly like Short Circuit did when I was 7?

yogarfield - 2014-11-04

No, it's going to pump you up like Real Steel.

casualcollapse - 2021-10-06

I did

Hooker - 2014-11-04

This has Los Locos in it.

The Mothership - 2014-11-04

Oh my god they cast Die Antwoord in a major motion picture.

And holy shit, it IS just a ripoff of Short Circuit.

Adham Nu'man - 2014-11-04

This was posted today: http://youtu.be/uMK0prafzw0

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2014-11-04

That and I, Robot.

fedex - 2014-11-04

thats actually a pretty good song

The Mothership - 2014-11-04

woah, Flea and Marilyn Manson? What the hell?

infinite zest - 2014-11-04

Aw man, Aphex Twin's Ageispolis is going to go down like the Clash's Straight to Hell. More people will know the sample via MIA and Die Antwoord respectively than the source material. Also this movie looks horrible. Five stars because I hate everything about this.

fedex - 2014-11-05

I knew I'd heard that sample somewhere. My favorite of his from that era is when he recorded as Polygon Window.

This track for example...sublime

yogarfield - 2014-11-05

That song is fucking cancer.

That guy - 2014-11-05

5 for HATE

Adham Nu'man - 2014-11-05

Aphex Twin is the guy in the video with the white sweater with GOD written on it.

infinite zest - 2014-11-05

That's RDJ?!!?!

I could be totally wrong. I called out District 9 well before I hadn't seen it, and I liked it quite a bit. I also said that Dancer in the Dark would be horrible because Bjork can't really act. And, just a couple of weeks ago I was at a bar and Short Circuit (1 or 2? the one where he gets citizenship) was on in the background and I was thinking that you could do so much more visually than you could in those days, and avoid a cheesy (but lovable) plot.

I guess in my world, Die Antwoord will act exactly like their songs: "YOU THINK YOU CAN FUCK WITH A ROBOT LIKE THIS? THIS IS CHAPPIE MATE HE'S A REAL FUCKIN BLOKE LIKE MY GIRLFRIEND/WIFE/SISTER (?) HE BE ALL LIKE THE REAL DEAL STRAIGHT OUTTA JOHANNESBURG " etc.

infinite zest - 2014-11-05

Awesome! Thanks fedex! I fell asleep to Lindstrom Pandora last night and that polygon window song came on at maybe 5 in the morning and sort of woke me up, but it was too late for me to go back and see who it was but I knew I'd heard it before. I should check out more PW.

StanleyPain - 2014-11-04

I like how the robot is the same robot from Tetra Vaal.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2014-11-05

Ugh. How many times is the idea of robots gaining sentience going to be hauled out without saying anything new? It's like seeing Superman's origin story a hojillion times, as if the audience had never even heard of Clark Kent.

This is why Ghost in the Shell isn't impressive, people. Its core concept has been done to death.

fedex - 2014-11-05

yeah, how about something original? Like what if it turned out all the plant life on earth were actually a giant networked organic sentient computer?

Adham Nu'man - 2014-11-05

Or what if there was a new computer virus that actually gave people Herpes?

Hooker - 2014-11-05

What if there was a sentient robot on the wing of a plane but only William Shatner could see it?

Kid Fenris - 2014-11-05

Ghost in the Shell is 25 years old, though. Back in 1989 (or even 1995), there weren't as many sci-fi comics and movies about the breakdown of the mind-body relationship amid technological advances.

infinite zest - 2014-11-05

GitS and Armitage (and probably many others) were pretty awesome for the time, and it's cool that we live in a world where live action robot movies can capture that same visual emotion of those animes vs. the 80s' "Happy Birthday Paulie" robots of the 80s.

SolRo - 2014-11-05

Did SPK even get the conscience identity theme going in GitS? It's not about AI, even though it features it as a set piece on occasion.

Gmork - 2014-11-05

5 stars for Yolandi.

huene - 2014-11-05

I somehow hope Die Antwoord and Björk never collaborate.

That guy - 2014-11-05

living nightmare

Maggot Brain - 2014-11-05

Where is the face on movie? Where is the face on this movie? I need to punch it.

Spaceman Africa - 2014-11-05

Why are the kids throwing rocks at a talking robot? If I saw that as a kid I'd be thrilled.
