Five for authentic buboes.

ShiftlessRastus - 2014-11-14

This is the complete history of white people music.

oddeye - 2014-11-14

How does this work then? Since these instruments are all like 2000 years old and shit and this song is from the 21st century won't the notes and stuff be different?

The singing is obviously the easy part but how do they get the other stuff to sound fairly similar?

EvilHomer - 2014-11-14

The real question is, how can you *hear* the music, when it's being played by some dudes in Belarus, thousands of miles away from you?

blue vein steel - 2014-11-14

well, same notes and everything, but these instruments pre-date polyphonic music (basically all modern music)

EvilHomer - 2014-11-14

Nah, I'm just kidding. The answer is "autotune".

James Woods - 2014-11-14

This is the only time I've ever enjoyed this song.

jreid - 2014-11-14

This is profoundly dorky.

fedex - 2014-11-15

profoundly

EvilHomer - 2014-11-15

If this is dorky, then I don't want to be cool.

Unless, of course, you're referring to the fact that Stary Olsa had to resort to a gimmick like "doing a Metallica cover" in order to achieve any widespread buzz! The fact that people care about one Metallica song more than they do about an entire catalogue of authentic Lithuanian medieval folk music, is both dorky and lame.

oddeye - 2014-11-15

maybe metallica is a billion times better than lithiumanian medieval music. Like technology, newest music is miles better than previous versions.

EvilHomer - 2014-11-15

Oooh, that one was low!

Two points: one, Metallica is crap, and Justice was the beginning of the end for them. You DON'T joke about this, this is serious. And two, Metallica is, like, eighty years old!!! Stary Olsa are a relatively new band - this medieval song was recorded a couple weeks ago, Metallica's version was recorded back in the 80s - ergo, Stary Olsa's Lithuanian medieval music is miles better than Metallica. QED.

oddeye - 2014-11-15

better than Metallica's old stuff maybe but definitely not as good as thier latest albums.

EvilHomer - 2014-11-15

Sorry, dude. Metallica's only released two new albums in the last fifteen years, and the newest one came out six years ago. That is six years less new than this video, and therefore Metallica is six miles worse.

hammsangwich - 2014-11-15
