The only Ed Gein movie worth watching. If you don't have time to watch the whole thing, you owe it to yourself to watch 7:20 in part 2.

My vote for scene not to be missed is the very beginning of part 5, when a middle-aged widow who has invited "Ezra" to a séance assumes the voice of her dead husband and asks Ez to "make my wife a woman again". It's the worst seduction method ever, and even Ezra is creeped out by it.

[Funny, thought my comment went through...]

You might want to add a "Tom Savini" tag here; this is one of his first film works.

Works for me.

One thing about this movie that's sort of fucked up and obvious exploitation is that the two murders that Ed Gein is known to have committed are fictionalized substituting younger, more attractive women for the actual middle aged victims. The result is an element of voyeurism that provides exploitation thrills, but also dumbs down "Ezra's" character. Why did he do it? Cause he was a generic "sex fiend"? Seeing attractive women in their underwear and hanging upside down nude encourages us (straight men) to identify with Ed and makes his crimes seem exciting and glamorous instead of squalid and sad.

But it's a good movie overall. It looks and sounds almost like it was shot on 16mm, but the writing, the acting, and the sets are all very well done.

I think you're projecting with your audience analysis. "Glamorous" is a word never used to describe a slasher movie killer.

"Glamorous" is a word never used to describe a slasher movie killer.

I doubt that, but it Imost certainly S a word used to describe women in their 20s and 30s who are nude and semi-nude. Do you think they made those casting choices because they couldn't find actresses in their 50s and 60s?
