Why is this guy trying to silence everyone and destroy the very foundation of free speech?

On the one hand, I take issue with the whole "dressed as a homosexual" thing because it's not as if being gay means you have a biological predisposition to dress that way.

On the other hand, holy shit that brought back some bad memories. :(

Okay, I'm down with that. I didn't know what to make of this at first. Probably would have been a good idea to wait for the wave of parody videos to subside.

I think that women and gays have the same problem here, the subtext of potential violence. Even if there's no real threat, when you're a stranger, women and gays have to evaluate whether you're a threat or not. It's a position that straight men are put into occasionally, but women and gays are put in that position over and over and over, and some people are more comfortable in that position than others.

NYC fucking sucks for a blue state city. (I'm not saying there's not homophobia in other places. But for fuck's sake, if this was really 3 hours, it's got to be 10x worse than LA. Maybe 20x or more. I think you could walk around in Orange County and not get this shit.)

As for "as a homosexual", I think it says in 3 words what it needs to. Stop splitting hairs. The people who are heckling him are heckling him for that, so why are poetvers saying shit about his word choice?

As for homeslice at 1:25-1:58, that's just about the most self-hating latent thing I've ever seen. He's hitting on him whether he admits it or not.

I was just in nyc. Wore a fuzzy white/cream colored hoodie and tight jeans but I guess I'm too ugly to be heckled. I used to get heckled more when I was obviously young though with lines like "You and me chief, right in my backyard" and worse and it sucks. I dunno why my recent trip went so well but I guess I got old (and ugly). Never got heckled just PLENTY of looks but I have gotten used to that from my public crossdressing experiences.

Iknow how to fend off the worst hecklers with a quick display of confidence combined with nonaggression. "That's not respectful." "Give me some space, please." I have used "Don't follow me or I'm calling the cops" before when I have been tailed in the street, and I can lower my voice's pitch enough and volume high enough to give the impression I know self defense. But many women haven't practiced these basic street skills before unless they were lucky to have good friends in a city or taught explicitly, and being sheltered doesn't help, yada yada.

I'm not a "homosexual" as portrayed here though. More bisexual/genderqueer who prefers women 80% because men are such pieces of shit most of the time. And with a dad from the marines who actually did prep me for some of the worst. my dad thinks I'm gay to this day but he also knows I'm scrappy.

Anyway I don't know any gay guys who would dress like that in nyc during daylight hours. I'd say that he both maximized his chances of being heckled and that many of these people heckling him could use a good bat cracked over their heads as a wakeup call to be decent to people.

They may well have! All we're seeing here is a two minute highlight reel from a three hour walk that probably produced over a thousand exchanges. The video editor was selecting for the most antagonistic comments, so maybe seasonal dressing advice did not make the cut?

That was even worse than I thought it would be. Ugh.

I mean consider that-- this guy sees a stranger and in like 0.3 seconds has decided he's going to brighten his day by insulting and trying to intimidate him for no practical reason.

What was that guy doing before he walked by? What was he *going* to if he never walked by. I'm just shocked by the instantaneous leap to criminal-level behavior.

I was walking in Virginia Beach and a homeless man called out to me asking for change from the outside wall of a 7/11 about 15-20 yards from the sidewalk. I stopped in my tracks and reached into every pocket, but I had none, so I said "Sorry man". Then he called me a pussy. I was wearing blue chinos.

The shoulder-bump guy is just laughably pathetic.

What areas were these?

My experience of living in NYC was nothing but unfazed people going through crazy measures to ignore everyone around them despite being packed in like sardines. "Please just let me make it to my work/apartment so I can wash everyone's filth off of me" seemed the default disposition. Every 3rd subway ride featured a crazy preacher or attention whore performance artist and everyone always stares blankly ahead, even the one time it when it was one of those subway nude photo shoots.

I got the impression someone could spontaneously combust and New Yorkers would step right over the flaming corpse.
