Silence on elevators is a time-honored tradition. Having once been in an elevator with some kid who was incapable of shutting the fuck up about the model we were sharing, I can say with good authority that Elevator Kiddies are much, much more unbearable than trainspotters.

Also he sounded just like our filmer here.

At least elevators are at most a minute conversation. I was on an airplane sitting next to a person who told me all about the Boeing 757 we were flying on, for like 5 hours.

Meerkat - 2014-11-26

Hah, that's at least better than the guy I sat next to for 10 hours on an airplane who never got up to go to the bathroom a single time.

Like, not once. The guy was either inhuman or catheterized.

I mean seriously, the first 6 hours I didn't think about it much but after the 8 hour mark I was starting to think about nothing but the fact that this guy had not gotten up to go to the can a single time and I had been 2 or 3 times.

I mean he was drinking coffee and everything.

EvilHomer - 2014-11-26

I sat next to a guy who told me all about how his family had disowned him because he had become a Nichiren Buddhist. It was a very a sad story.

SolRo - 2014-11-26

You idiots look too approachable, I'm running a perfect no public transport conversations streak.

infinite zest - 2014-11-26

Thing is, if the plane was going down or the elevator was stuck, I'd be happy to be next to the person who probably knew more about what was going on than anyone else on the plane, probably including the airplane pilot or elevator operator.

I get the best conversations in airplanes.

Marine/Military people are often the best. Great stories, and they know all the best bars and seedy places in far off lands. Their ex-girfriend stories are amazing/heartbreaking.

Or the one time an old fellow boards a trans-pacific United flight with 24 roses, and hands one out to each attendant. Just a guy trying to put smiles on peoples faces.

The fundamentalist fluids engineer stationed in Korea, wonderful discussion on American politics.

There's a Thai Airways Singapore-Bangkok hooker flight, for lack of a better term. Pretty amazing flight, but not so much for the conversation.

Deplorable - 2014-11-26

I had a ticket guy on a train trip tell me allll about his apocalypse conspiracy theory book, for hours. It was more amusing than annoying, seeing this PoE-red exhibit unfolding before me.

One Flight in Bangkok

Accidie - 2014-11-26

They has the 'tism.

boner - 2014-11-26

It's adorable. At least it gets them out exploring the city.

Spaceman Africa - 2014-11-26

There's nothing I love more than a good Elevator Enthusiast video, reminds me to check up on what Benobve us doing these days.

EvilHomer - 2014-11-26

Stick with this. The first minute is a bit puzzling, but by 2:00, it all starts to make sense.

animegurl1000 - 2014-11-26

I wouldn't be surprised if one or both of these guys installs an elevator in their house when they get older.

Very much like a mildly aspie coworker of mine who is a big time traffic light enthusiast. He set up his garage with four sets of real traffic lights, mounted on all four walls of the garage, wired up to an actual, honest-to-god control box (the footprint of which is about the same as a modest refrigerator). As he was so quick to remind everyone whenever he would them pictures of his setup, he legally obtained the equipment from city auctions.

EvilHomer - 2014-11-26

Phew, that's good to know. The world of blackmarket traffic light equipment is a dark world indeed.

animegurl1000 - 2014-11-26

I think he was convinced that somebody would narc on his collection if he didn't put that fact out.

casualcollapse - 2020-08-10

Miss you EH

dairyqueenlatifah - 2014-11-26

Is there an "Elevator Simulator" game yet?

boner - 2014-11-26

beno made one, it simulates a whole building full of them, and you have to run away from security guards too.

boner - 2014-11-26

boner - 2014-11-26

Oh the security guard thing was in a different game he made.

Old_Zircon - 2014-11-26

I'm glad someone has started looking through elevator channels that aren't benobve, so that I don't have to.

casualcollapse - 2020-08-10

Lol I didn't know Beno had been around for so long

fluffy - 2014-11-26

At least their conversations about elevators are something other than how terrible the ride sequencing is. That seems to be a favorite kvetch of every software engineer who works in a building with a badly-programmed elevator.

Anaxagoras - 2014-11-27

So this is what they're doing for fun in the fly-over country now?

Makes me glad I left.

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2014-11-27

Future TFL/MRA right there fellas.

Sputum - 2014-11-27

Twice he checks out his portly buddy from head to toe with his camera. 'This is Alex, and here are his sexy sandles.'

Jet Bin Fever - 2014-11-29

The elevator community. The internet is so dumb.
