Hooker gave this one star, cuz he's a little bitch,

ashtar. - 2014-11-29

I gave it one star because it's not that interesting unless one happens to have a weird internet crush on the host. And because I'm a little bitch.

Hooker - 2014-11-29

I gave it one star for the same reason as ashtar.

EvilHomer - 2014-11-29

I gave it five stars because Minnie the Booper is a true classic, in both the fields of music and of animation - it's one of the earliest, if not THE earliest, music videos, as well as a milestone moment in the Flesicher Brothers' descent into madness. I don't care about Nostalgia Boxxy and frankly I'm not even that interested in what she has to say about Betty's Minnie video, but for fucks sake y'all can't one star Cab Calloway, what's wrong with you.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2014-11-29

You know what's REALLY not interesting? This same exact bullshit over and over and over and over. If you want to criticize me for not being interesting, that's cool, but could you try not to be so INCREDIBLY FUCKING BORING while doing it? That's the part that sort of pisses me off.

Did you know that there's PORN on the internet now? There's stuff on the internet that I like to masturbate to, but I don't usually post it in here, because sharing it with y'all doesn't really add anything to my masturbatory experience. I posted this because I think it relates to previous discussions about the Forbidden zone. If you can't imagine that, that's a failure of your imagination. I wish Lindsey Ellis would talk about better movies, but she's more of a critic than just about anyone I know on you tube. Everyone else is a comedian first.

Aww whatever. Bitches`gonna bitch.

Hooker - 2014-11-29

Can I give it one star again?

Old_Zircon - 2014-11-29

1 star because why wouldn't you just watch one of the half dozen or so uploads of the original cartoon that have been on Youtube for the last decade? Why would you give another view to this person?

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2014-11-29

>>Why would you give another view to this person?

I submitted it because I thought it was interesting and informative. Other people voted for it, for whatever reason, perhaps because they enjoy seeing Hooker acting fussy. I'm sorry that this is a problem for you, but I want you to know that believe in you, and I know in my heart that you will find the strength to carry on.

Jet Bin Fever - 2014-11-30

I know you're probably lonely JHMF, but there's no reason to inflict this stuff on us too.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2014-11-29

Anyway, i submitted this for exactly the reason I indicated. Before I saw this I always thought of Forbidden Zone as random old timey weirdness, but now I see it as directly and consciously inspired by the Fleishman brothers. Seemed like a worthwhile insight. That is all.

Old_Zircon - 2014-11-29

By "Fleishman Brothers" I assume you mean Max Fleischer.

Not to be all cartoon hipsterish but how had you not at least heard of this before? It's only one of the most famous cartoons ever by the second most famous animation studio of the day.

EvilHomer - 2014-11-29

Well, it's better he learn about them now, from Angry Nostalgia Nerd, than never at all.

You should probably change the tag, Mr Holmes:

http://www.poetv.com/search.php?searchtext=fleischer&x=0&y=0
Most of them are tagged as "Max Fleischer", although the studio was actually owned by three Fleischer brothers; Max, the eldest, was the chief animator and is the best known.

Bort - 2014-11-29

Five stars because I have good manners, but you can't comment both on Betty's weird face and her dating a dog without bothering to explain the connection. In the original cartoons, Betty Boop was an anthropomorphized French poodle, and that design didn't work at all, so they reworked her into a straight-up human and that wasn't quite as bad.

Advance to 5:40:

That's Betty Boop as a poodle with long ears and a dog nose. Keep watching and I think you'll find it ... simply irresistible.

Kid Fenris - 2014-11-29

Whoa. That's some Rock & Rule stuff right there.

I'm with Old Zircon, though: you're better off just watching the short.

Raggamuffin - 2014-11-29

Submit that cartoon so I can vote it up and give you 5 stars for it and the cartoon history lesson, Bort.

Bort - 2014-11-29

Submitted. Mind you, it's been submitted twice before and never made it out of the hopper.

The Hopper is the Afghanistan of Graveyards of Max Fleischer Cartoons of Empires.

EvilHomer - 2014-11-30

Hey Bort, do you consider Betty Boop to be furry? I've been wrestling with this dilemma for years: on the one hand, the Fleischers' work was artistically brilliant, on the other, Betty *was* a canonical dog-fucker.

Bort - 2014-11-30

In cartoons, I suppose the distinction is intelligent vs non-intelligent, not species vs. other species. A human fucking an intelligent dog is fine; a human fucking a normal dog is not.

Just think, there's probably this whole complex alternate history that in very broad strokes resembles ours (thus the cartoon world resembling the real world of the 20th/21st centuries) but has to incorporate the struggles the distinctions between intelligence and species. Like in the cartoon Old Testament, when they're discussing what sorts of animals you're allowed to eat post-Noah, it's probably not a matter of man ruling over all animalkind, but man and intelligent animals ruling over the dumb animals. Hell, language itself probably had to be structured around this distinction; I do not envy the linguists who have to translate Popeye's gibberish.

Spaceman Africa - 2014-11-29

All the TGWTG people are unspeakably insufferable.
