I've always loved playing with a steel pot while washing dishes...put a little water in it and bang it while sloshing the water. Always thought it could be turned into a cool sound effect instrument. But I guess I never realized that that's basically what makes those movie sounds.

I wonder what this would sound like through a vocoder with a theremin.

I want one.
