Good, they haven't found out about the 4th way.

Technically, catastrophic vacuum decay only destroys the universe _as we know it_

Universe descends into wickedness and God destroys it with star-locusts.

What's more terrible: That it would stop forever, or that it would start all over again?

I'm serious. Both are terrifying concepts.

The interesting thing when you really reason about the unlimited infinite is that it's ALL terrifying. There is not one non-terrifying scenario. The thought of death as oblivion and the universe going on and on with you not there to see it is ball-freezingly scary. Heaven and hell, by virtue of being FOREVER, are also freakish. So is an endless cycle of reincarnation.

You can have one of two reactions to this:

The Ligotti: Existence is a nightmarish obscenity, and in fact any possible existence is also a nightmarish obscenity, as is the absence of existence.

Anyone Else: Huh, the human brain clearly didn't evolve to reason dispassionately about an infinite universe, so when I try it gets freaked out. Guess I'll keep things in perspective (or NOT in perspective, as it were) and go about my day. Oh look, tits!

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2014-12-03

I only find the first concept terrifying. I find the idea of the second to be comforting.

I like to compromise, and distract myself with nightmarish tits.

Either way, Galactus will live on.

There is another theory I saw talked about where we are fucking up the scale of the big bang, and that our massive universe expanding is really just a tiny big bang just about to happen at a completely different scale, and that it will just keep expanding and banging and its only the scale of perspective which changes over time.

Okay, so they explained it better. Sorry.
