It's THAN, for fuck's sake.

THAN!

Reading up on this 20 years ago, when a close relative was diagnosed with BPD, was terrifying and yet also comforting in that so many of the traits described made sense. I was told that an older male with BPD was really uncommon because "it usually either burns itself out or leaves the male victim dead in the parking lot of a bar."

"Burns itself out?" I'm genuinely curious what that means, I always understood it as something that was pretty much untreatable and didn't really go away once it manifested.

Like being a Parrothead.

oddeye - 2014-12-09

probably learn to deal with it better, ya know?

Old_Zircon - 2014-12-09

I kind of thought not being able to deal with it was one of the defining features.

Some people change too. They're not just locked in stone. They adjust, get to a different environment and such.

I was diagnosed with BPD once. By a psychiatrist who told me in the next breath: "It's basically a garbage can diagnosis". That said, if you want to get a pretty good idea of what it's like inside the head of a man with BPD, read "Notes from Underground" by Dostoyevsky.

I'm pretty sure that one of my ex-girlfriends was BPD. She had all the symptoms, anyway.

She was fascinating and incredibly attractive. I still think of her sometimes.

I married it. All of her good qualities are oh slightly outweighed by the negatives.

Jet Bin Fever - 2014-12-09

I had ONE girlfriend with BPD. ONE. Never ever again. It was miserable. Fun, exciting, wonderful... and then the worst possible relationship of my life. The good thing was that I didn't have to worry with her, like I have with so many others, if it was my fault.

I think we can all agree that women are crackers.

My youngest brother is a psychology graduate. He strongly suspects the brother in between us has BPD. That in-between brother is the person I hate more than anyone else I know.

good times

Yeah, that brother of yours is a fucking cunt.

Oscar Wildcat - 2014-12-10

The dude burned me on a drug deal. He's got to go down, I say.

countvelcro - 2014-12-10

Was diagnosed with it in my early 20's, since then I've turned 30 and seem to be fine. It's kind of synonymous with being an immature selfish cunt.
