All things considered (and I'm going to play the part of Mr. Obvious here and assume the original was just fart sounds added to a Paranormal Activity movie while this one was sort of Scary Movie for Paranormal Activity) it wasn't all that bad of a sight/sound gag. It's better than where those movies seem to have gone; if it was Scary Movie it'd be Miley Cyrus twerking under there or something. Not quite sure why I'm rating this five stars, but there you go.

Full disclosure: I've never seen this movie, for all I know it's the second coming of Altman's Nashville or Spaceballs or something.

Yeah I was actually going to say that it almost seemed like a Mel Brooks joke once his movies started going downhill (starting with Spaceballs, for me anyway) but I love Brooks so I didn't want to compare a comic genius with whoever wrote this thing. So I looked it up and it was Marlon Wayans (Scary Movie.) Funny thing is, Don't Be a Menace DID approach Brooks' level of genius, and is one of my favorite "eh.. I just want to laugh" type movies. And he was excellent in Requiem for a Dream and I think deserved an Oscar. And then.. oh well he's fucking rich so he probably doesn't care about what I think.
