And this shit all started with putting propane through a tube and lighting one end.

So the blackbird cant take off without mechanical help spinning up the turbine engines, eh?

mouser - 2014-12-21

The required electrical motor and batteries to achieve that was detrimental to the plane's performance, being dead weight after take off.

Same thing for F1 cars up until recently.

For all we know, the Blackbird might mix Skittles with its airflow, causing its computer to fly into an ape-like rage.

Gmork - 2014-12-21

I hope you're at least a little embarrassed by yourself EH. It's like you didn't read anything I've ever said and simply imagined whatever it was you wanted me to have said and just substituted that for reality.

Gmork - 2014-12-21

Also: ape-like? Why are you being racist.

Racism is bad, m'kay?

EvilHomer - 2014-12-22

All I'm saying is, the media likes to present this biased image of the Blackbird being a harmless, innocent airplane that would never hurt a fly. But it's actually a huge, hulking, weapon-of-war, and all it takes is one little push, at the wrong moment, to make the SR-71 SNAP like a ravenous pitbull.

Also it's black.

no jet can start under its own power. Every jet turbine must be spun up by an external power source to reach a critical point of self supporting compression. Most planes, like airliners, have a battery powered motor that does this. The SR-71 doesn't have one to save weight.

Corpus Delectable - 2014-12-21

Eh. More or less. A couple of howlers, but not bad.
