Weird that this should show up again today, as just the other night I got into a weird argument with some random idiot in an online game (I know, stupid..) about how white people co-opting "nigga" and claiming it's not somehow casually racist is nonsense. The guy was one of those morons who thinks that unless you are actively murder black people and dress like Hitler or something nothing you possibly do can ever be racist.

It's an interesting word (the "-ga," not the "er".) I was at a bar on a date and one of my black friends saw me, came over and introduced himself to my date, saying that I was his nigga. I just smiled, but wasn't sure if I should even nod and accept it as a compliment, given that I'm probably the Whitest Scandinavian you would ever meet. It was just weird because I would never say it back, but I also wouldn't say something in reply like "he's my cracker.." no. He's just a good friend of mine. But anyway I felt this weird awkward remorse for no good reason..
