Good call on the Hydra-Shok

I watched this movie the other night. I don't think it's aged well.

His sincerity is infuriating!

My mom refused to take me and my sisters to see it, she thought the idea of an abandoned child fending off criminals was too scary/inappropriate for children to see, so she got some family friends to take us instead!

Basically, this is the Republican/NRA response to everything i.e "Somebody watching that Batman movie, a teacher at Columbine, Sharon Tate, etc. should had a gun and they would've prevented it!"

They also claimed MacGuyver was Liberal anti-gun propaganda

"MacGyver" was that, in part. There were episodes (one I specifically remember, possibly more) that addressed gun ownership directly; guess what the moral was?

Don't forget the episode of Gargoyles where Broadway learns about guns after he accidentally shoots Eliza with hers.

I watched Home Alone 3 last night. It was just a bunch of recycled jokes from the first one and had a young Scarlett Johansson in it.

I feel like I saw a parody of Home Alone that was around right around when the movie came out. Basically Kevin's got a small militia's stockpile of weapons and goes to town. I understand that this is satire, but when I was 8 I was at a friend's house for his birthday party and he got out his parents' guns and pointed one in my face. I was told that if I saw a gun I'd run and call my parents, but they weren't home, so I just left and walked 100 blocks back home, alone in the rain.

I've never held a gun and would like to keep it that way. As for that kid, he was certainly not a psychopath, and most likely knew exactly what he was doing, even though he was only 9 years old. To this day I wonder if it was the gun that drove me to run like I did or if it was his asshole brothers, who whipped him with a belt for every year and put a cigarette out on his ass (a Germs burn, after the band) maybe it was a combination of the two. If I was him, I probably would've used it.

I've never fired a gun, but my mom has an old 22 rifle in her closet that her dad gave her long ago that I've picked up and handled. She does have ammo for it, but I don't think it's been fired in about 20 years.
It sounds to me like walking out of that house was a very smart thing for you to do.

Smart move, IZ, you do _not_ want to become a real-life 90's PSA.
