Death Grips is one of the few bands that genuinely pisses me off, and I love Zach Hill's solo stuff, so it's not about the music: they're a group, no wait they're an art project, so it's OK to cancel shows last-minute and piss off the venue, OK Death Grips is over but WAIT! Here we are with a new song thanks to our brand new sponsor, Adidas. Buy our new album. To those who are fans, you guys have more patience than I do.

I don't know what any of that meant.

I think it's some kind of shaving cream that the kids enjoy using nowadays?

Zest cares more about how a band acts than how they sound.

EvilHomer - 2015-01-08

When you sound like Death Grips, how you act is at least as important as how you sound.

Snakeweapon's right. I do value character over music. This might be because I'm in various bands where shit's happened to me, like being accused of stealing, and one time the rest of the band getting so drunk that they couldn't play their songs. In the former case, they found the money and everything was cool, but I told them to go fuck themselves and now they're pretty successful. In the latter, well, that's punk rock to get shitfaced on stage but the show in question was a 10 dollar one and not the usual basement shows, so that's unprofessional. Or just learn how to handle your fucking alcohol.

I remember seeing Paul Westerberg years ago and he was getting pretty drunk on stage, and people kept yelling out Replacements songs during the encore after he finished his solo stuff, which was the reason for the tour. He'd get halfway through a song and forget, and the audience knew what to do and everybody sang along. That's an enjoyable experience for an audience member. In Death Grips case, they had a show in Chicago and just projected a fan's suicide note and "couldn't make it to the show", even though they were playing Lollapalooza in Chicago that day. Some of Zach Hill's equipment got destroyed and stolen, and that's never cool, but that's what happens when you act that way.
