I guess he is being environmentally responsible at least.. he could just spit it onto the ground since they're outside. I was living in a house that drank entirely too much beer (there were 7 of us and I'd pick up at least 70 cans of beer off the porch nearly every morning so our landlord didn't yell at us) and everyone had the habit of ashing their cigarettes right into the empty cans. But the inevitable happened and they'd get drunk, open a can, light a cigarette, and pass out, and someone would always turn out puking from drinking the full beer with the cigarettes in it. Still better than tossing the butts on the ground though, and pretty funny.
