Wait there was a part 2?

Nevermind I forgot The Metal Years was the subtitle for Part 2, never realised there actually was a Part 1

Pt 3's been ridiculously hard to find, but someone uploaded it a few days ago, which was weird because I had just watched Pt 2 again. 1's 70s punk, so like X, The Germs, a lot of my favorite bands are in it, but 2 was kinda cartoony (except for Seduce, who kick fucking ass) and it sort of became the reason why Wayne's World didn't totally suck like most SNL films did. Spheeris is kind of like the female Alex Cox in a lot of ways, or Leni Riefenstahl without the whole Nazi thing. A lot of her stuff kinda sucks, but it's contextually interesting given what she really wants to put on celluloid.

This looks like it might be hard to sit through. Fucking Green Day.

For me it was the most enjoyable of the trilogy from a pure documentary standpoint, but that's probably because it's the closest to my own scene, especially 16 year-old me in 1998. I was never on the street but I got transferred all around the Portland Public School System, so I never had any school friends and just went to the skatepark most days even though I didn't skate. I think I might know a few people in this actually. That being said, I NEVER liked Green Day or the Offspring, even Kerplunk or whichever Offspring album people say "even if you didn't like them, you gotta check out.."

The first Decline is great because of the music, and the second one's a fun one to play at a party in its cartoonish ways, but the third one.. well this probably needs a "90s" tag.

Also Naked Aggression kicks total ass. I wonder if they're still around..

Didn't she also direct the remake of "Car 54, Where Are You?" with David Johannsen?

infinite zest - 2015-02-11

No, but she did do The Little Rascals and Beverly Hillbillies that same year. I've always wanted to see those, but not really..

You can almost smell these people through your screen.
