When they start calling you an "indie darling", it's pretty much all over.

I used to live with someone who went to high school with Ben Gibbard, guess he's a pretty nice guy. Their first couple of albums are good but I stopped paying attention some 12 years ago. Hey Ben, I know it's a little soon, but if you're reading this, I know you and Zooey Deschanel split up, but can I have her number?

I would watch this show.

Missing Craig Ferguson though.

Yeah once in a while I'll catch it muted at the bar or something. What's the deal anyway? Now John Mayer is hosting? I assumed that he was snowed out of NYC or something. Ferguson seems cool but there's something about the way he sits when interviewing people that's kinda weird, like Al Bundy.

Needtodestroy - 2015-02-08

He left the show and felt really great about it. He believes he was successful in creating a deconstruction of a late night talk show. He didn't care. He didn't care that he was on a tv show but he cared about making something of it.

It's the Late Late Show. Most people didn't even watch it in the 90's when Craig Kilburn was on it. He sucked.

In the interim time between Craig and the new host they filled in with other people.

So far this was my favorite one as it feels exactly like something Craig and or Tom Snyder would have enjoyed.

Oh ok! I always loved Craig Kilburn on the Daily Show. It's contrary to popular opinion but I always thought he fit better with the Daily Show's aesthetic than Stewart (something funny about a semi-clueless news host and panel of experts was perfect for a comedy network) so I watched a few episodes of Late Late and yeah it was just shit.

I guess John Mayer is doing a pretty good job; I've seen him in other stuff and he's kinda funny in that douchey self-aware celebrity way like Josh Grobin, and frankly I couldn't give you an opinion of his music because I won't waste my time listening to it, but I doubt if he's this good. Too bad the mainstream saw this as such a trainwreck.

I prefer Stewart to Kilborn, but I miss the low key charm of the older shows, before they brought in the live audience. Sometimes you'd hear crew members cracking up, which was a lot more fun than all that carefully milked audience adulation that has characterized TDS for the last ten years.

Yeah it's odd for a news show, comedy network or not. I have the same problem with John Oliver in that way. There's something to be said about making lemonade out of lemons with an otherwise depressing week of news with some quality humor, but once in a while you get that awkard laugh that's about as much fun to hear as someone laughing at an old lady falling in the middle of the street.

Speaking of Oliver, he's back on tonight. Boy did he pick a bad time to take a vacay.

Woah is this how the show is done now or is this just extenuating circumstances? It seems more free form, even more so than Craig's. Also, Adam Pally and Ben Shwartz are awesome.

CBS goes Jesse Camp

infinite zest - 2015-02-10

Dangit. It's gone now. Doesn't really make sense because I think it was on the official Late Late Show youtube page. Did CBS really consider it so much of a trainwreck that they wanted it forgotten completely?
