None of that's because of GMOs though, it's because of humans using GMOs as a new opportunity for fucking up.

There is absolutely no scientific evidence that GMOs are unhealthy or that any of the bullshit claims of the rabidly anti-GMO crowd are remotely true.

The REAL, actual criticism of GMOs lies in how the business are operated (which can be questionable, to say the least) and the idea that massive crops operating on a single, similar genetic pattern is probably a super-bad idea should that particular type of crop wind up with a very specific killer disease (like what happened during the Irish Potato Famine). Genetic diversity helps a lot in insulating against this and improving a lot of things about food production in general. So, yeah...GMOs kinda suck on one level, but the real reasons people should be anti-GMO have been co-opted and buried by dipshit "natural news" types who usually dovetail with vaccine deniers, chemtrail believers, and idiots of that stripe.

It's pretty easy to grow delicious tomatoes, if you've got space and sun, but it's pretty hard to have ripe ones available for the 9 months a year that isn't harvest time. Vegetable gardening is fun and awesome but you've gotta be really hardcore if you want to stop buying veggies at the supermarket.

Got it. As someone who has never attempted to grow anything (though my girlfriend grows a bunch of herbs on the deck), I was under the impression that tomatoes were about as easy and resilient as they come.

Grocery store tomatoes are shit because they're artificially ripened because actually-ripe tomatoes don't survive transit.

If you want good tomatoes from the grocery store, get 'em canned.

Tomato plants grow quickly and produce fruit during the whole growing season, as long as you can train the giant-ass plant vines that result (and keep it fertilized). It's not a 'I'll just grow one little plant in a small pot' type thing, unless you're fine with cherry tomatoes.

Its funny, many papers show that its actually the preservatives and serving styles that are responsible for most of the ill effects of meat. Turns out you could live off meat entirely as long as its fresh and without contaminates, and you'd be perfectly healthy. Unfortunately its almost impossible to purchase any meat that way.
