Ehh.. makes me feel a little better about the fact that Dredd 2's not gonna happen. It'd probably be this.

oddeye - 2015-02-25

They already made a second Dredd movie.

infinite zest - 2015-02-25

Oh poop. That's like calling Tim Burton's Batman "Batman 2." Or 3 or 4, however many of those shitty movies were made before it.

oddeye - 2015-02-26

Are you talking about the one with Rocky and Juice Bigelow in it or a sequel to the original Judge Dredd movie?

infinite zest - 2015-02-26

A sequel to Alex Garland's Dredd, which is apparently most likely never gonna get made.. but thanks for reminding me that Deuce Bigelow was in that pile of shit. 2000AD was my favorite comic book back then and Garland's at least captured the atmosphere better. But from what I hear, the "sequel" was going to be a prequel. I don't care about that! Bring on the Dark Judges!!!

sorry, got carried away. The Stallone one was the original, to the best of my knowledge, and it sucked sucked sucked. So the reboot was basically like Batman Begins vs. the Clooney Batman.

The worst thing about this are the Tony Scott style captions.

infinite zest - 2015-02-25

I think the only person to make stylish subtitles work was Timur Bekmambetov in Nightwatch and Daywatch.

I'm pretty sure this dialogue is better than any that appeared in the original, well that and I'm sure from what I've heard the idea was partly to mock darker, edgier reboots in general.

But actual serious reboots of live-action Japanese franchises should probably be left to Japanese producers.

If you want a Dark Judge story in a film medium, check out Judge Dredd Superfiend.
