swoon.

infinite zest - 2015-02-28

She's like every tinder date I've been on rolled up into one. We both sort of get the vibe that we want to finish our drinks and get the fuck out of there, but we're polite enough to continue to talk for the next 5 minutes or so before getting the fuck outta there.

crasspm - 2015-02-28

Are tinder dates like that? Is it kind of like speed dating, where if it isn't going anywhere then it's cool to just wrap it up?

infinite zest - 2015-02-28

Pretty much, or make sure the door's locked when you leave kinda sex. It's a bummer either way.

infinite zest - 2015-02-28

Could be different in other places in the country though. I mean, people join it for a reason. Like, I don't know if you watch Broad City but there's an episode where the girls go through all their facebook friends asking them to go on dates and none of them reply. That's pretty much what Tinder is for.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2015-02-28

Now that Parks and Recreation is over (the finale was last Tuesday), I sure hope Aubrey Plaza manages to keep working. I love her, and I love her whole Tuesday Addams thing.

infinite zest - 2015-02-28

She seems cool. Maybe we can clone her, since we all seem to like her. Maybe that's what Aubrey Plaza should do, is star in a reboot of Michael Keaton's "Multiplicity" where she's cloned a few times and one of them is a hip hop rapper and another one is an ice skater and I haven't worked this out yet.

EvilHomer - 2015-03-01

I think Cayla Wood could probably do a good Aubrey Plaza impersonation. Maybe that would warm people up to her submissions and get her out of the doghouse?

Nominal - 2015-03-01

I've tried Tinder and know a bunch of others, men and women, who have. The consensus couldn't be farther from IZ's experience.

Guys imagine it to be just like Grindr with on-demand sex for straight people. It isn't (a lot of women's profiles specifically state they're not on their for hookups). Guys are on it hoping it'll be like that, women are on it for effortless instant validation and passing the time swiping when bored.

I always suspected it was the next evolution of Plentyoffish: hookups for fatties.

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2015-02-28

Aubrey is an automatic 5 but minus 4 because she's not mine.

Coax_Current - 2015-02-28

Attractive? Sure. But not funny. What a boring 10 minutes.

ashtar. - 2015-03-01

I had no idea she was so divisive. She's like the Tim and Eric of minor celebrities.

EvilHomer - 2015-03-01

I am indifferent towards Aubrey Pizza. Should I be pro, or con? I will let the audience decide.

baleen - 2015-03-01

I love her but I feel weird about it because if I dated her I'd feel like I was dating a prettier version of myself.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2015-03-01

>>Attractive? Sure. But not funny. What a boring 10 minutes.

Okay, first of all, SO attractive! Though I wouldn't want to date her. I just love watching her. It would be creepy in real life, but she's on TV, so it's completely appropriate.

And yes she is funny, though it's not THAT kind of funny. She gets a lot of talk show gigs because she's interesting and engaging guest, but she doesn't do jokes, and a compilation of Aubrey Plaza like this isn't necessarily going to be a laff riot.

She's not a comedian, She's an actor, and, believe it or not, she's a very good one. Watch her carefully for 3 or 4 Parks and Recreation episodes, and you'll start to comprehend the vulnerability she works very hard at bringing to April. She plays an inexpressive character expressively, and that requires a special skill set.

If you don't think she can act, you're flatly wrong. If you don't think she's funny, well, I can see why you might think that. I think she's at least funnier than your average great-looking TV actress, but... whatever.

PS: I love Aubrey Plaza twice as much since she did the voice of Grumpy Cat. I gave out several copies of "Grumpy Cat's Worst Christmas Ever". Does that make me weird? Obviously, it does.

Bort - 2015-03-01

Like all decent people, I'm the tiniest bit smitten with April Ludgate, because of that whole emotionally unavailable / available thing she does and is funny about it.

As an actress, Aubrey Plaza does a terrific job, and I like her Sarah Silverman impression:

thank god, I was worried I would never get to hear JHMF extol the deeper virtues of another hot young celebrity again

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2015-03-01

>>thank god, I was worried I would never get to hear JHMF extol the deeper virtues of another hot young celebrity again.

Sorry to alarm you. I guess it's pretty obvious that I've been deeply affected by the whole Leonard Nimoy thing, but I'll be fine. Life goes on. Thank you for your concern. WHO are you, again?

Chocolate Jesus - 2015-03-01

What a creep-show. Baleen or JHM, I don't care who I'm responding to.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2015-03-01

Neither do we.

EvilHomer - 2015-03-01

Hey Mr Holmes, do you happen to have a photo of you with a cat on your head?

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2015-03-01

I have a cat who likes to jump up on my shoulders, so I have several pictures of THAT. Here's one I posted today.

http://tinyurl.com/ln2wlg3

I can't think of a picture with a cat on my head, though.

EvilHomer - 2015-03-01

Why are you swearing at Boxxy? Did you two have a fight?

Also, would you be willing to take a picture of yourself with a cat on your head? The cat can be facing in any direction and you may make whatever facial expression you feel best sums up your outlook on life.

baleen - 2015-03-01

Me? A creep? Hardly! I am a pleasant and loving man.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2015-03-02

I looked up creepy:
"causing an unpleasant feeling of fear or unease."

It seems to me that if I can inspire such feelings by saying things like "Aubrey Plaza is a good actress." and "Aubrey Plaza is very attractive.", that is

1) Something I have no control over.
2) Not my problem.
3) Sort of awesome.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2015-03-02

"I wouldn't want to date her, but I enjoy watching her on television".

"Oh, and just what is THAT supposed to mean?"

"I especially liked it when she did the voice for Grumpy Cat."

"Grumpy cat? Tell me you didn't just mention Grumpy Cat, you sick son of a bitch! Okay, that does it; I'm calling the police!"

EvilHomer - 2015-03-02

Cat + head? Pretty please?

Chocolate Jesus - 2015-03-02

Johnny, we know your comments in this thread are just a single bead of water in your ocean of madness. But you're still mad, and we're still soaking in it.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2015-03-02

Really? You're SOAKING in it? I don't really know what that means, but if you don't like soaking in my madness, you should probably stop doing it.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2015-03-05

>>Johnny, we know your comments in this thread are just a single bead of water in your ocean of madness. But you're still mad, and we're still soaking in it.

How can you possibly know this? Tell me, Bosco, how is it that I'm supposed to be the crazy one, yet you're claiming to know all about me, as if you could read my mind over the internet?

EvilHomer - 2015-03-05

... cat on head?

Bort - 2015-03-01

I still want there to be an April Ludgate Phone Sex line, just a prerecording of her saying: "Eww. Nobody wants to hear that. Stop. You're old. Gross."
