Goodbye, Mr. Pratchett.

“YOU KNOW WHEN YOU SAID THAT SEEING ME GAVE YOU QUITE A START?"
"Yes?"
"I GAVE YOU QUITE A STOP.”

“DON'T THINK OF IT AS DYING, said Death. JUST THINK OF IT AS LEAVING EARLY TO AVOID THE RUSH.”

Confession time: I've never read any Pratchett but I love him anyway. Any recommendations on a good first book?

RIP Terry.

My favorite was Good Omens, a collaboration with Neil Gaiman.

Cool thanks! I played the Discworld PC game and I liked it but felt like most of the references were over my head.

There is quite a lot of really nice stuff to dig through. The Discworld one offs are usually a good start. Small Gods does a nice little thing about religion while Soul Music and Moving Pictures do rock music and golden era Holywood respectively.

For an introduction to the universe itself Color of Magic and The Light Fantastic is a good start.

But basically it is all good and like with Douglas Adams the big plotline is most of the time secondary to what the small things say about humanity.
