Once Republicans lose all hope, I hope they become so cynical they just start being honest.

"If you represented these people, you too would hate America and try your damnedest to sell it off cheap. Seriously, anyone, make me a fucking offer."
- President Santorum - 2017

Jet Bin Fever - 2015-03-18

Mr. Santorum, I present, your BASE.

oddeye - 2015-03-18

If only they had added "Gays should die" or something in there, he'd have nodded so hard his head'd've snapped off.

infinite zest - 2015-03-18

I like to think that this is just Santorum's inner thoughts somehow projected through telekinesis through the PA system.

spicediver - 2015-03-19

5 for you, Mr Zest.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2015-03-19

I kind of want to see his reaction when someone goes off about gays seeing as how he's a total secret closet case if ever there was one.

Crab Mentality - 2015-03-18

I like this. The guy asking the question sounds exactly like what the Republicans have been appealing towards.

Caminante Nocturno - 2015-03-18

Another Thanksgiving ruined.

oddeye - 2015-03-18

Really, my healthcare has never been better both in coverage and cost. My biggest fault with Obama and his administration is that Gitmo is still open. I understand that he inherited that but come on, enough is enough now Barry.

Also it's said he was TOO bi-partisan and that the democrats should have been bigger assholes and gotten more shit done with or without the other teams but I don't really know anything about that so I can't comment.

spikestoyiu - 2015-03-19

My healthcare has gotten a lot more expensive. However I switched jobs last year and now I have one of those stupid high-deductible plans. BUT, if paying a little more for my insurance helps other people out, I'm okay with it. Unfortunately, I don't think that's the case. I'm pretty sure I'm just throwing more money at Keystone suits.

gravelstudios - 2015-03-19

Thanks to the ACA, I qualify for medicaid, which covers waaaay more than my private insurance ever did. It's saved me such an insane amount of money that I've been able to go back to college because of it.
yesterday, I was watching Obama do a Q&A after a speech and somebody asked him what he'd tell himself if he could go back in a time machine to his first day in office. He said he'd have closed Gitmo on the first day, while he still had the chance.

Binro the Heretic - 2015-03-19

Aren't you proud of what you and your buddies helped create, Mr. Santorum?

You are responsible for that. Enjoy it.

OxygenThief - 2015-03-19

They are still lucid enough to be able to insert their credit card information online. This is all he cares about.

Meerkat - 2015-03-19

That's not a crazy conspiracy theorist, that's just a Republican. I used to chat online with some Republican people in New Orleans, and they are all that guy (which is why I stopped chatting with them long ago).

kingarthur - 2015-03-19

That ain't a New Orleans accent, dude. That's North Mississippi / Deep South / Central Pennsylvania / Kentucky.

We don't talk like dat in NAWLA.

Meerkat - 2015-03-19

I mean what he's saying, not his accent. Sheesh.

MurgatroidMendelbaum - 2015-03-19

I hope in Obama's memoirs, he says his biggest regret is the failure of that nuke in Charleston.

Cena_mark - 2015-03-19

I wonder which Charleston he failed to nuke, WV or SC.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2015-03-19

It was South Carolina.

The world will forever wonder.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2015-03-19

For the curious, the story from the tin-foil-hatters said that Obama fired two generals for not nuking Charleston to create a false-flag attack. In reality, they were fired for charges related to sex and gambling. The gambling one involved using forged poker chips at a casino, which I'm kind of amazed didn't get him kneecapped. Anyway, here's Snopes on the subject:

asian hick - 2015-03-19

Mainstream Republicans genuinely believe Obama hates America and wants to destroy it. The idea that he loves this country and wants to improve it but is going at it a slightly different way than them makes less sense than this amazing conspiracy they have wrapped themselves in.

Plus there's the barely disguised racism that he's not "like us". Birthers are that fear of someone different come to life.

asian hick - 2015-03-19

My grandma did this once. She asked Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley at a town hall how he could stand to work with "that murderer Ted Kennedy". It went downhill from there.

TeenerTot - 2015-03-19

Please tell me you have a recording of this.

ShiftlessRastus - 2015-03-19

I love grandparents' tenacious grip on political grudges. My Grandmother still calls Truman "Hairy Ass Truman", and says he ruined the country. It reminds me of the Abe Simpson quote: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EM3NSTbi4OQ

asian hick - 2015-03-19

It was before the smartphone age and even if it wasn't, I was too busy burying my head in my hands to film.

In his defense he handled it like a pro, being totally diplomatic while not daring to even imply he agreed with her. I think a big part of being a politician, especially a Republican, is making peace with the fact a large number of your supporters are crazy.

Cena_mark - 2015-03-19

I believe the worst thing the internet has created is this vast ocean know nothing constitutional scholars. Yes sir, if we take your straight reading of the 10th Amendment everything is illegal, the law is a little more complicated than that.

oddeye - 2015-03-19

Instant access to vast knowledge simply allows some to cherry-pick more effectively

chumbucket - 2015-03-20

A lot of the rhetoric seems to circle the bowl around "if our founding fathers were alive today" lectures. I just kind of zone out when I hear that phrase and begin fantasizing about a continental congressional zombie horde.

eatenmyeyes - 2015-03-19

It's beautiful.

Quad9Damage - 2015-03-20

This makes me nervous. That bitch is about to pick up a gun.
