this would be cute if it weren't posted by a goddamn international news organization

between this and the senate judiciary committee listicle, do the powers that be regard the younger generation so poorly that it panders to us like children instead of treating us like rational adults?

Gmork - 2015-03-20

Yes.

5 stars for that.

Void 71 - 2015-03-20

Once the Baby Boomers croak off, every station on TV is going to look like this. Generation X will never get tired of reminding everyone how above-the-fray they are.

Aress - 2015-03-20

It's bad enough that a lot of news shows tried to ape some of the Daily Show's attitude. It works for a fake news show, but when it's on an actual news network it's just giving up their responsibility.

EvilHomer - 2015-03-20

I'm willing to bet that more people get their news from The Daily Show than from CNN. Caeser is dead, and we all took a stab at him.

lotsmoreorcs - 2015-03-20

Not like I'm one to talk but don't you think there's a direct correlation between a generation of adults that spend a large portion of their time watching cartoons and playing video games and a media that regards it's viewers as children?

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2015-03-20

Yeah!

Besides which if they were really serious they would have included the original nuclear meltdown from the first Cooks and incinerated all of these people in a holocaust.

Shanghai Tippytap - 2015-03-20

Our generation may spend a lot of time playing video games and watching cartoons, but I'd wager that your average 30-something today is better informed about current events than a 30-something in the mid-70s was.

That's one of the most insulting things about this; It treats us like we're dumb, instead of just incredibly jaded.

Xenocide - 2015-03-20

Yeah, media needs to go back to the sophisticated days of yesteryear, when Dukes of Hazzard was the #1 show on television and Gallaghar was packing stadiums.

Gmork - 2015-03-21

Might want to re-read what Mr. Tippytap actually said, Xeno.

memedumpster - 2015-03-21

A rational adult wouldn't vote for a single one of those people. They know who their target audience is, you're the one in denial for wanting a "grimdark" version of a kid's show.

infinite zest - 2015-03-21

It's a bit of a spoiler (not really), but HBO's series The Newsroom (basically CNN) has a story arc where they get bought out by a Millennial billionaire who basically turns it into Buzzfeed, and there are consequences. In CNN's defense, 24 hours is a lot of time to fill, and I know absolutely nobody who watches CNN: the only time it seems relevant is if you're at a bar or something and there's some big breaking news story, the barkeep will probably turn to CNN rather than Fox News, etc. And it's pretty common knowledge that The Daily Show wouldn't have succeeded had it not been on right after South Park.

I don't think there's anything wrong with CNN toying with things like this, and it's no more insulting to me than the fact that Comedy Central insists the Daily Show still throw in jokes on even the most somber of news days. If this was a minute or less as sort of cutaway it would've been kinda funny but I didn't make it past 2 minutes.

Old_Zircon - 2015-03-21

CNN was never any good.

BHWW - 2015-03-20

What next, CNN presents a timeline on ISIS as rendered through dogememes?

EvilHomer - 2015-03-20

UGH, SO MANY CANDIDATES!!! Politics is hard, it make my brain hurts. >:(

Just give me two, and I'll pick the one from whichever party my favorite celebrity endorses.

ashtar. - 2015-03-20

more like too many crooks!

jreid - 2015-03-20

BAM 5 stars to ashtar for the grandpa joke.

infinite zest - 2015-03-21

I have oft wondered who EH's favorite celebrity is.

EvilHomer - 2015-03-21

That's a good question, and normally it would result in seven paragraphs and a series of painstakingly exact numbered lists. However, I now have to spend my morning shoveling all this fucking snow, so I'll just say...

Fuck, what category of celebrity are we talking here?

dowstroyer666 - 2015-03-20

All hail demon sheep, lord chef of the cooks

tethercat - 2015-03-23

I think everyone that submitted this saw it.

dairyqueenlatifah - 2015-03-20

I'm more amazed that I've actually heard of so many of these people than I am by the fact that CNN is using epic maymays now.

roofle - 2015-03-20

I'm impressed they actually put Vermin Supreme in there.

Jet Bin Fever - 2015-03-20

This is depressing. I'm upset that they tried to ruin Too Many Cooks for me.

memedumpster - 2015-03-21

This is exactly like a Sesame Street segment and that's all I could think about while watching it.

This is the first political anything that unashamedly targets the mentality of the politically minded. It's refreshing.

cointelpro_shill - 2015-03-21

awesome. i love cultural metastasis

fluffy - 2015-03-21

Reminder that CNN and Cartoon Network are sister companies (both subsidiaries of the Turner arm of Time-Warner).

That guy - 2015-03-21

The edits in this and what they sync up with on the music cues or original video, that's all easily worth 5.

CNN is either worth an extra 5 of evil, -1 for being CNN, or -5 for pandering, or +1 for pandering.
