I've recently started mainlining this series. I'm only on episode 5, but it's pretty awesome. It may turn to shit by the end; a lot rests on how the character's develop; their hinted-at motivations may turn out to be dumb or hackneyed. But for now... man. What an awesome show.

takewithfood - 2015-04-14

I finished it in two sittings, and I'm looking forward to AKA Jessica Jones next year. Maybe it's just my low expectations, but I'm impressed with the quality of these Netflix shows.

Anaxagoras - 2015-04-14

The worst one I've watched so far has been Marco Polo, and even that I enjoyed until the penultimate episode. Yeah, it had some serious flaws, but I still really enjoyed it.

But man...those last two episodes were shit. I couldn't even finish the last one. So. Bad.

Haven't seen it, but I may be getting netflix soon. I love Vincent D'Onofrio, but I hope his character gets some good lines and doesn't just crush people.

EvilHomer - 2015-04-14

Netflix is great. Get it.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2015-04-14

Now that I have a cell phone with Android, I can run Netflix through my friend's TV with chromecast. Before that, all I had was computers running Linux. I hear that you can run Netflix now, but it's kind of a challenge.

I do get Hulu Plus, which may not be as great as Netflix, but is well worth the 8 dollars a month.

I had Netflix for a while. One of my housemate's girlfriends was using her parents' account. It was all good except for the times when everybody in her family (I think they had like 5 kids) were on it. But now I'd feel kinda shitty since they broke up. At least I was able to watch all of Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret. I keep telling my parents that they'd love it, since they like British shows (I still think it's got the British humor even though it's Will Arnett and David Cross) but they're too technology illiterate to figure out anything beyond their Cable On Demand, which it's not on. Oh well, I love 'em, but a Netflix account isn't exactly like computer hacking. Then again my dad's doing my taxes right now, because it's "easy." Thanks dad!

Chocolate Jesus - 2015-04-14

Yeah, but then what happened? Are the kids OK? Are you getting a refund? What about your dad, still not watching netflix?

Monkey Napoleon - 2015-04-14

JHM: I'm pretty sure netflix defaults to html5 now and silverlight is no longer necessary. A current version of Chrome or Firefox should be able to run it with no problems or fiddling.

duck&cover - 2015-04-14

I thought the Kingpin was black.

Gmork - 2015-04-14

Nice "Hook" scene. Too bad the rest of the show wont live up to it.

Gmork - 2015-04-14

not meant as a reply but holy crap really? kindpin's white cueball skull and wide dimensions (not accurately portrayed in this show) are pretty iconic.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2015-04-14

Well, slimming down a little is a small price to pay for being Vincent D'Onofrio.

StanleyPain - 2015-04-14

Michael Clarke Duncan played Kingpin in the horrible Daredevil movie, but the comics character has pretty much always been a big, bald, white dude.

StanleyPain - 2015-04-14

On a side, note, I actually liked Colin Farrell as Bullseye in that movie..it would be kind of cool if he was somehow brought back into the new Marvel universe in the movies, but I doubt that would ever happen.

Bort - 2015-04-14

Ben Affleck "Daredevil" could have been a good movie, and I don't blame Affleck, just the script. The big problem is that the movie never really gave us a reason to get on Affleck's side, they just assumed that you can put a hero on the screen and the audience will sympathize. Contrast with Tobey Maguire in "Spider-Man", where they took pains to show us his frustrated ambitions and that he's the sort of person we want to succeed.

infinite zest - 2015-04-14

I usually have the tube on when I'm at work, but it's only network. So usually I catch Gotham, Arrow, SHIELD out of the corner of my eye.. I'm sure there's others. I'm sure if I was actively watching them I'd formulate a different opinion, but neither show seems to capture the universe that I'm used to from the movies or comic books. It might as well be any other cop show but in the Marvel/DC Universe. This at least looks the part, not that I'd really want a show that captures the shittiness of the movie Daredevil.

Also, this is basically Disney now, right? I was a little concerned about this when watching Guardians of the Galaxy. Although it was an excellent movie, you could tell it was seriously holding back. In that case, I don't really care that much if Rocket swears a bunch like he does in the comics, but if you mess with my Deadpool again, we'll have a problem.

infinite zest - 2015-04-14

Oh. Deadpool's still Fox. This is all confusing to me.

ashtar. - 2015-04-14

I mostly started this because it had Deborah Ann Woll. Daredevil is a pretty boring superhero. But it works. The acting is mostly good, they have time for character development, the villain is evil but not too much of a caricature, the lawyer stuff fits in well, it's almost believable, they handle the super-senses well without a bunch of CG.
It does drag on at times (flashbacks for character development take you out of the story you were invested in), and some of the dialogue is cheesy as fuck.

But, seriously: Deborah Ann Woll.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2015-04-14

So did he fart uncontrollably while he was at dinner? He did, didn't he?

Hooker - 2015-04-14

And here it is: the TV show that combines the pointless violence of primetime dramas with the tsunami of superhero bullshit.

Chocolate Jesus - 2015-04-14

*****

fedex - 2015-04-14

SNORElaxzzzzzz

Sorry but Bullet Tooth Tony did it better in Lock Stock *AND* Snatch

yogarfield - 2015-04-14

so much BRRRRRRRMMMMMM horn effect.

Nominal - 2015-04-15

It's like a rated R version of a Family Guy gag that goes on too long.

betamaxed - 2015-04-15

The show as... not bad. This was better than your average season of say Smallville or M.A.N.T.I.S., but good lord, the acting in this series was high school play level bad.
