It's a reasonable argument, but frankly when I first heard about this hiatus in temperature rise my thought was "well there must be a phase transition happening".

Say you're heating an ice cube. The temp will rise proportionally to the heat input, right up to the point where the solid phase begins to melt into the liquid phase. There will be a pause at 0C for some time, until the solid phase completely transforms. Then the temperature will start rising again.

As to what might be undergoing the endothermic transformation, I don't know. But that was the thought, for what it is worth.

It's a safe bet that the only thing future generations will remember about this time is how the world collectively shrugged it's shoulders and focused on nonsense while the planet itself began to burn.

and Greg's shirt.

Also remember that most of the permafrost, glaciers, icebergs, etc. are pure water, while the oceans are salt water, which has a lower melting point and which causes the temperature to go down as a result.

Fedex has a good point. The wearing of that shirt increased the albedo of the earth substantially.

I thought he quit making videos. I'm glad he didn't. It must be terrible trying to argue for things on the internet.
