Kids was in theatres right around when I was this age, and the theatre that was showing it was pretty cool about letting underage kids in, especially after The Rocket did a review saying it should be taught in high school, something like that. It was weird: I wanted to be like these kids and I didn't at the same time.

So flash forward 15 years or so and there's Kids 2, AKA Spring Breakers, which was criticized by almost everyone. But I really liked it because I imagined watching it as a 13 year-old girl and the impact it might leave on me, instead of the 30-something me that can criticize Franco's overacting and the Disney Channel chicks gettin' down with the skrillex, or whatever these kids are up to these days.

er.. "watching it through the lens of a 13 year-old girl.." god that still doesn't sound right.

I remember Kids being awful but this looks like it might have aged well.

James Franco was not overacting-- you should see the inspiration for his character.

To me it came off like Riff Raff, but yeah I'm sure there are people like that in real life.

This movie taught me that you need to choose your friends carefully.

Some of my friends saw it in the theater but they walked out in disgust about half an hour in. I waited for VHS.

In disgust over how sensationalistic it was, I mean. Somewhere around the skateboard-beating scene.
