I hate this guy and his stupid fucking face. Great job working the titular line into your fake-ass fury.

5 for the sheer evil of everyone involved NOT getting glassed in the face.

Gmork - 2015-04-23

I'm sure he's an idiot - but he's the idiot these bar owners deserve.

baleen - 2015-04-23

Part of the joy of this show is watching horrible people with horrible bars forced to do horrible things and replace their horrible bars with equally horrible Cheesecake Factory bars with zero character. It's like watching everything terrible about America reach a singularity within 30 minutes.

blue vein steel - 2015-04-23

Agree with Gmork, Taffer is a complete piece of shit fraud, but 10 out of 10 times, the bar owners are even worse (yes, i know this is "reality" tv, but this show is one of my guilty pleasures), and most of the time, he's actually right about why these bars are failing. He then goes and turns them into what are essentially TGI Fridays, everyone loses, and i laugh.

Also, to the fakeness of the show, obviously, it's mostly staged and the bar owners and employees are coached and edited, but they are real bars. I actually went the the Pirate Bar that the show did, which is just outside of DC, and it was truly awful. They completely reversed the show's renovation (which turned it into essentially a yuppy bar), went back to the Pirate theme, and i believe closed. They did have really strong pours on all their cheap drinks though, so that was nice.

spikestoyiu - 2015-04-23

The transformations are 100% real as they did a bar around the corner, as I mentioned in the other Bar Rescue video. I had been in the bar before the rescue (and thought it was fine) and briefly after the rescue. They undid most of the Taffer changes after a month or so though. They slightly altered the name he gave them and also bought a new sign (Taffer's was shit). The interior stayed the same although some of his menu items were dropped. The other Philly-area bar that he transformed last season (Lickety Split) also undid most of Taffer's changes.

Scrimmjob - 2015-04-23

I remember seeing a website that had a list of all of the restaurants featured on "Kitchen Nightmares" and what their current status was. I would really like to see a similar list for the bars featured on this show. I'm sure the result would be about the same with 70% of the business's closing within a year.

Cena_mark - 2015-04-23

I hated this show since episode 1 specifically for what it did to the Piratz Tavern. I went there and loved it. He turned it in to The Corporate Bar, thinking that cube slaves would want to drink somewhere that reminded them of that status.

Love & Vomit - 2015-04-23

According to http://www.barrescueupdates.com/ , 57 of the 78 bars that appeared on the show are still open. However, some of the bars were apparently doing well before the show, and didn't need to be rescued.

badideasinaction - 2015-04-23

Cena, blue vein steel: Yeah, the Piratz bar in DC, sadly, is now closed as of a few weeks ago. An acquaintance of mine worked there, and from what chatter I did see the Bar Rescue fiasco was a major factor in the owner deciding they didn't want to do it anymore. Apparently Taffer fanboys were still coming in to be dicks to the bar staff, and every time the show re-ran it would start up again.

spikestoyiu - 2015-04-24

They aired an update episode maybe only 2-3 weeks ago and they tried to emphasize what a mess the pirate bar was since reverting back to their pre-Taffer schtick.

Gunny McRifleson - 2015-04-24

Cena Mark- That's Taffer's/the show's biggest problem. Taffer has good knowledge/ideas but smothers it under gimmicky bullshit (who the fuck cares about an Ice bar???). "I'm a 9-5 cubicle farmer in an unsatisfying corporate job, gee I think I'll have a drink at The Faceless Drone." Terrible idea. Also, this staff was mentally disturbed. There's no way "One-Eyed Mike" will function in a normal work environment. Best you can do is scale-back the nautical theme a little, make it less tourist-trapy to get the lunch crowd, and tell them to save the costumes for Saturday night.

Wander - 2015-04-23

Fake, and not the fun kind of fake. If the bad acting doesn't tip you off, the magically appearing pocket on that guy's shirt should.

baleen - 2015-04-23

The lawsuit is certainly real.

infinite zest - 2015-04-23

Staged or not, this is pretty awesome. I wish they'd do one at my local watering hole. It got featured on Comedy Central tho

Wander - 2015-04-23

The fact that something actually happened just makes me like this less. I would like to ACTUALLY watch a celebrity chef smash a bottle over a guy's face. Watching them make up some minor squabble and then poorly acting it out for the cameras is boring and a little creepy.

baleen - 2015-04-23

I'm sorry they were not able to edit together something that incriminates the host of the show for your own delight and amusement. In any case, here's the case.
"
Taffer grabbed Wilkes' drink, threw it at him and smashed the cup into his face, calling Wilkes a "pervert" and "scumbag." Taffer then spit in Wilkes' face and tore off Wilkes' shirt, according to the complaint.

"Taffer picked up the drink that had been planted by a Bongo employee to throw in Dr. Wilkes' face from a table and then threw the second drink in Dr. Wilkes' face. Taffer then swung at Dr. Wilkes' head with his electronic tablet, which Dr. Wilkes deflected with his left arm, and the tablet went flying across the room. Taffer turned and went for his coat. Dr. Wilkes, terrified that Taffer was going for a weapon, then went to restrain Taffer with his arms," the complaint states.
Other tried to intervene, but Taffer was still able to punch Wilkes. Taffer then "began hyperventilating and collapsed to the floor," according to the complaint.
Wilkes says the entire attack was caught on camera."

StanleyPain - 2015-04-23

Don't think I've ever heard the term "Taffer" outside of a Thief game.

Scrimmjob - 2015-04-23

Haha, that is what I think of every time I hear this guy's name.

Sanest Man Alive - 2015-04-23

"This den of iniquity and watered ale is beyond all hope of salvation. It shall be torn down and replaced, stone for stone, with an establishment better suited to honoring the Builder's glory."

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2015-04-23

SpikeTV

Cena_mark - 2015-04-23

You just can't give something one star for being on Spike TV. They gave us Deadliest Warrior, which was both entertaining and informative.

infinite zest - 2015-04-24

And Takeshi's Castle. Even if you don't like the slightly racist overdub it introduced people to a pretty great thing.

yogarfield - 2015-04-24

>deadliest warrior
>entertaining and informative

Binro the Heretic - 2015-04-23

Pfleagh.

apiaryist - 2015-04-23

Five for the worst kind of evil. I've auditioned for shows like this. They're all fake. Everyone in the establishment is fake. Every single customer, worker, and garbage man. It's all bullshit, folks. And they make you sign an NDA that says you can't do anything else for at least 18 months if not longer so that nobody sees you on an excedrin commercial during the show or something. I turned one of the restaurant rescue ones down because I wanted to continue working. The first thing they reveal is that everyone is completely full of bullshit. Why does anyone watch these shows anymore???

glasseye - 2015-04-24

Does anyone actually believe "reality TV" shows are NOT completely fabricated?

spikestoyiu - 2015-04-24

While I don't know if they add plants to make a scene occasionally or whatever, but the customer base, as a whole, are legitimate. You know you're going to be on Bar Rescue, but it's still filled with people off the street. A buddy of mine was in a Vegas episode and I waited in line to be part of the crowd (didn't necessarily want to be on TV -- I was more interested in the process) for a more recent episode that filmed by me, but it was kind of cold out and I eventually lost interest and left.

spikestoyiu - 2015-04-24

Oh, and the staff is the actual staff as it was full of the same people before and after filming. I'm not saying they don't direct them, but it's the same people.

Jet Bin Fever - 2015-04-25

+1 for skeezy doctor! I know a guy startlingly like this.
