Am I glad they decided to change Mickey's voice.

In other news, I'm just reading Walt Disneys biography, and after hours of reading about his parents' cousins' spouses' dogs (it's a pretty detailed book) he finally invented Mickey Mouse. It's cool to be able to see these early cartoons when you've read of all the stuff that lead up to it.

Craig Gabler? I love the part where he claims that a drunken Disney whipped his dick out at a press junket and dared them to photograph it. Supposedly nobody would take the risk.

I want that to be true so badly. Also I think the soundtrack from "Over the Garden Wall" was definitely influenced by this period.

Mickey sounds like a sick Marge Simpson.

I have never heard Mickey Mouse sound like this. It's unsettling.

Also, that's quite a way of getting out of doing any more animation than you absolutely have to.

Really surreal and disturbing somehow.

Yes, this is strange to our modern ear. But, this was the style at the time. Listen to the WWI anthem 'Over There', or some other 1920s pop music, and you will find that this here is just a domestic ode to a farmwoman but with a cartoon mouse singing it.

Compare it to Led Zepplin's Black Dog?
