^ It is being controlled by a human, though. The whole point is that it's an improvement over a human doctor doing with his bare hands because of precision and steadiness.

I don't think this technology is going to be routinely used for most sutures in the immediate future, but it's nice for doctors to have an extra tool in their arsenal for when human hands alone cannot do a job as well.

(And, yes, I see that I unintentionally wrote "tool in their arse-", so nobody needs to point it out.)

And I'm all for robot assisted medicine. I would love to have a robot assistant for clinicals, but since I work in a pretty remote area (medically speaking), I doubt my boss would buy us one, even if it was dirt cheap.

And you noticed at the end it was being done inside a bottle? That's because these things were designed to stitch you up from the inside.

That way, the surgeon can make a small hole, inflate the area like a balloon and do all the work through the small incision rather than slicing you wide open.
