No it's not, surely! "ま" is pronounced "mä", with a soft 'a' sound (as in "father"), not an o. I think Mr Idowu knows this, and is trying to pronounce it with a soft 'a', but his voice is a bit weird and Mr Oddeye, being a Brit, has an understandably difficult time

MAN-GA is the only way I've heard it said and japanimation I've only really heard at the midnight manga movie on Sci-Fi back when we first got Sky TV in like 1999

I think the main reason why few people say "japanimation" anymore is because "japanimation" was a relatively modern Western neologism ("Japan" + "animation"), coined for a time when anime was sill unfamiliar to most people, and technical terms like "anime" or "manga" would have been confusing to general audiences. Nowadays, almost everyone's heard of anime, so they just stick with the proper term.

... although really, arguing about the "proper" way to pronounce a word is a bit silly. *In Japanese*, yes, there is a "proper" way of pronouncing the word "manga". But you are not Japanese, and you are not speaking Japanese; just as the Japanese (and Germans, and French) routinely butcher English words, so too are you entitled to put your own spin on theirs. MAN-ga, sure, why not? Maybe in a century or two, this will be the standard pronunciation, and 'mängä' will sound quaint and archaic.
